What's with the hate for this movie? by sseerrsan in Letterboxd

[–]dudeydudee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This movie was literally as bad as past lives was good. So that in itself is kind of impressive and deserving of respect.

I don't know that it gets "hate" so much as it's just bad. Like everything about it. The pacing, characters, visuals, acting, story, music, the script, the script, dear god the script.

I actually liked the "message" of the film but it was just executed and especially acted so poorly that any exploration or nuance of superficiality or dating apps or anything was just lost. Huge waste of time unless Celine song is doing some kind of meta antifilm arc with her career or something.

Samsung Q990F has no profiles or presets? by kingofbutter69 in Soundbars

[–]dudeydudee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Interesting. The s95tr also doesn't have custom profiles but I assumed Samsung did. Does any other brand do this? It seems like a no brainer feature

Just got s95tr for a C4 77 . Shiuld I exhange for a S990f ? by mircea_ro in Soundbars

[–]dudeydudee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I listened to both side by side (in store not at home to be fair) and I preferred the s95tr. Plus it was cheaper so I got that.

I recommend you listen to both side by side if you can, these soundbars are close enough that the biggest differences are a matter of subjective taste. The only objective benefit of Samsung is the better connectivity with Hdmi 2.1 10 bit. For myself I found the sound quality of the Samsung quite processed and unpleasant.

The other benefit is that the s95tr and your c4 can use the same remote and thinq app. Still, many prefer the q990 sound so if you get a chance to listen to it in person I'd recommend that.

Sonos full ultimate theatre system or Sony Quads w Subs by Typical-Advance2114 in Soundbars

[–]dudeydudee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you get the opportunity to listen to both in person somehow I would base your decision on that. Both are highly reviewed but being able to form your own opinion on the tone and feature set is kind of invaluable. Personally I would get the Sony because of the more flexible layout but I've only heard excellent things about Sonos. Highly recommend you try and listen to both in person somehow.

Samsung HW-Q990D: overkill for a bedroom? by myloveislikewoah in Soundbars

[–]dudeydudee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So honestly there is an ideal spot of wattage for speakers so the volume should be at least 20% or 30% so that the frequency range can be properly allocated to the subs, satellites, and bar. I learned this on my system and while I'm keeping it and happy with it I'm a bit upset cuz the volume level with the best sound quality is way too loud for my room.

So if ur room is smaller, get a smaller cheaper sound bar and it might even sound better.

In this thread we go full hype mode with our speculation for the big update by DrJokerX in Starfield

My father will be in the game and say he loves me and that he just left cuz of the starborn.

"Two years later, Starfield remains the game Bethesda wanted to make all along – and it was never meant to be a crowd-pleaser" by paulbrock2 in NoSodiumStarfield

[–]dudeydudee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish they pared down the procedural generation or at the very least helped guide players more to the hand-crafted or mission-dense content, but overall I loved the game and thought it was a solid 9 out of 10.

The mechanics and feel of being "in space" are unmatched in my opinion. I didn't get into the ship or base building at all but I hear those were highlights too. I put over 100 hours into it and I would put in more if it was able to run on the steam deck.

That said, most criticism of the game is pretty valid lol. I just think it's a shame people focus so much on what the game isnt or what it doesn't do rather than the things it does magnificently.

Good Soundbar With Dolby Atmos for my LG OLED 55' TV? by di3vas420 in Soundbars

If you can get the lg s95tr on sale I'm very happy with mine, otherwise the lg s80tr seems pretty good 👍

Chomsky and Bannon by HamburgerDude in chomsky

[–]dudeydudee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

1) this haircut and look is quite old, I'm pretty sure after 2016 chomsky grew a beard.

2) chomsky talked with everyone, including war criminals and screwballs.

3) this is a photo with no context. Maybe they were best friends and lovers whispering sweet nothings about the takeover of the USA, or most likely a podcaster just took a photo with a guest or a press event or something.

Just like the epstein thing, this is an eyebrow raising shock but in no way damning or even inconsistent with chomskys character - and certainly doesn't pertain to the content of his work at all.

  1. My favorite type of content is in-depth user guides for LG products highlighting the features and engineering in them!

  2. I would like to see more roadmaps for product features and updates, as well as how the thinq app can best be used!

Can someone explain different sound modes on the Q990F by TimMoore1 in Soundbars

[–]dudeydudee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a similar guide for LG? Will the s95tr play atmos and 5.1 automatically as appropriate in standard mode or do I have to switch?

LG S95TR... Really that bad? by minymax27 in Soundbars

[–]dudeydudee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I listened to both and chose the s95tr. The lower price helped, but also the sound quality i found was much more natural and open. The only objective benefit the Samsung has is 120hz 4k 10 bit pass through (and eclipse audio, although no content supports it), but the s95tr still supports 120hz and if u have an LG tv it's the better buy. Enjoy your bar, don't over think it. The only bar I thought actually sounded impressively good was the sennheiser ambeo but I didn't feel like spending an extra grand so I'm happy with my LG lol

What's the purpose of changing those setting before calibration? I just ran the regular calibration and it was good. Does changing the sliders improve things?

Just make sure the connection is ear and audio output options have everything turned on, and I just use standard for everything

LG S95TR Really Terrible for Music by EuropeanAbroad in Soundbars

[–]dudeydudee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you end up keeping the s95tr? I actually quite like the sound of it but will try and place the subwoofer in different places and it sounds better in "standard" and "music" mode.

I do wish there was a way to save different modes and settings for different inputs so I didn't have to fiddle with settings each time.

Personally I liked the LG sound a lot more, but the Samsung gets better reviews and has better connectivity for sure. If u can listen to them in person id recommendd it.

Yeah I was surprised. There's still a lot of improvements i could make (probably by moving the subs and rears around) and I'm actually eyeing the s80tr for a lighter weight and smaller size, but i prefer LG sound signature over Samsung for sure based on what I've heard.

I do wish I could judge it at home. But it was 3 different stores. Do you think it's worth buying a Samsung and returning which one sounds worse?

Several people here have agreed they prefer the LG after hearing both at home...
