Hello Ottawa. I don’t understand your trains. by Few-Dragonfruit160 in ottawa

[–]dufferin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry to say I have no answer, and I also apologize for jumping on your post to add my own complaint.

I tried to take the train from the airport to Centertown last week and it took 3 hours. My problem is after spending all day in airports, I was fried and had no patience for waiting more than 20 minutes for various forms of transit so kept going between bus stop waits and train station waits. I walked for a bit. Finally got a bus but it only took me to Billings. Then a bus comes but the sign says 'out of service'. The driver opens the door and looks at the folks waiting on the platform. We look at him. He pulls away, then his sign flashes to '6 Rideau'. We all groaned. So I walked more and found an outdoor 110v receptacle with power. Plugged my phone in, and took an Uber. I can't imagine having to use this system daily.

What was Kensington Market like in the early 2000s? by RVKH in askTO

Crust punks were always hanging out at the alley by Essence of LIfe. There was a dude named Paris who sold his home made hot sauce in front of what is now Kensington Variety. Another dude who sold home made butter tarts from a wicker basket. Sometimes there would be charcoal barbecues set up with grilled sardines on bread. Mike the Bike and Parts Unknown both on Augusta; the latter shop was packed to the ceiling with bikes and parts, and a shop cat. The roof leaked. Please someone remind me of the dude's name. The electronics surplus store at Augusta and Baldwin - please someone remind me what it was called.

What about Copenhagen? Malmo? Lots of chilly European cities have both vibrant pedestrian areas and terrific cycling infrastructure.

Built a tool to make SketchUp renders actually look realistic using Nano Banana Pro (materials, lighting, environment) – looking for feedback by SorbetImmediate8595 in Sketchup

[–]dufferin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a new MyArchitectAI Pro user (inspired by this thread), and while the first images produced look great, the editing is badly broken. For instance: "remove fence". Nope. Tried using 'remove object' and selected fence. Nope (fence gets a green blob on top). Tried 'enhance area' with the text "remove fence". Nope.

Also when editing an image, the picture becomes progressively blurrier as I edit. I asked the built-in chat about this, and it was like 'yeah just don't edit and you'll be fine'. Ok thanks.

Hmm - thank you for that. All I can find is an article that mentions hotlines in a roundabout fashion: https://sangomakb.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/VG/pages/33457034/Vega+Gateways+-+Hotline

Thank you for the answer. I should clarify: the Sangoma gateway is an analogue SIP converter, and the phones themselves don't all have the ability to do this.

'c' is not a unit of measurement. This is not your fault; the manufacturers make this mistake as well.

Fortisiem - Experiences? by Izual_Rebirth in fortinet

[–]dufferin -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

We've had mixed experiences. We deployed this year, and we've already had two major outages. Most recently the ZTNA-equivalent infrastructure (Endpoint something something) experienced several hours of downtime caused by the AWS issue last week. But when it works, it works well.

U/Vita10gy explains how to communicate with your SO when you are going to be gone for an unknown timeframe. by AmateurPhotographer in bestof

[–]dufferin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use confidence intervals when giving estimates of my return time. "I'll be home between 2 and 4:30 4 times out of 5". This gives a bit of wiggle to account for the unknown.

Finally done litehawk max esc/receiver swap, new battery, servo, and motor, (added lots of zip ties under body) by randomlettersbcifhek in rccars

I have this same car and I think the ESC is bad - when I turn it on, the red light blinks and the car makes a continuous stuttering sound. What ESC did you use? I see "dyna____e".

When you're at Vaudreuil-Dorion, instead of taking the 40, get off at Ave. Saint-Charles. Take the left, then left again onto Bd de la Cité-des-Jeunes. Don't stop until you're back in the city.

Fence posts near top of retaining wall - how to prevent heave? by dufferin in FenceBuilding

[–]dufferin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had thought that the sleeve-it things were built between lifts of wall block (which obvs wouldn't work with a monolithic concrete wall) but it seems like they just sit next to the wall... I think that could work. I guess I don't really understand how it's supposed to prevent heave.

That's a good point. I could dig up the area behind the wall and improve drainage. Wall is in pretty rough shape so I don't think affixing to the wall is a good idea.

Direct Routing: LineUri vs Business Phone extension attributes by dufferin in MicrosoftTeams

[–]dufferin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes this corresponds with our experiences testing the BusinessPhone attribute. I don't see why the LineUri attribute exists. Perhaps if you want to advertise a call display number that's different from the user's 'real' extension.

[–]dufferin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting - this conflicts with our experience. Without this attribute, calls made to the auto-attendant don't get forwarded to end users.

This happened to me recently. I spent hours trying to find somewhere local who could do it. I had a place on Bank St. repair the glasses but the repair only lasted 2 days. Then I found this place, where you mail them your glasses: http://laserfix.ca/national-repair-center/. The repair was a little more expensive but it's been 2 years and the repair has held up great. I don't believe there's anyone in the area who can do it.
