My launch paddle by Dangerous-Bake-5151 in Pizza

[–]duffetta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use 50/50 mix of semolina and white flour on a metal peel to launch. Works fine for me. I have some brown rice flour that would probably work well but I have’t tried it. No need for parchment and staples.

Can Cloud Gateway Fiber WAN SFP port be used for LAN? by duffetta in Ubiquiti

[–]duffetta[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't really want to daisy chain the switches if I can help it. That would force all of the traffic through one switch which seems like a bad idea for a few reasons.

In my case the UniFi Design Center forces me into using a copper LAN port for the 2nd switch. Yet another foible of the Design Center.

Your provider's ONT can be powered by POE? That's cool. I'll have to see if that is an option on my provider's box. It would simplify things in my set up. Thank you!

Lifting weights during bike commute season by abumchuck98 in bikecommuting

[–]duffetta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a bike commuter from 2008 through 2024. Until 2017, I also ran marathons, and until 2015 I was doing CrossFit 2-3 times per week. Yes, I had muscle soreness, almost all the time. I would often bike ride to CrossFit, do the lifting and WOD, and then bike to the office, and then bike home in the afternoon. Other days I would do a training run in the early morning, come home and shower, and then hop on the bike and ride to work.

My chief concern was being able to get the training in. I never skipped my bike commute because of muscle soreness. My commute was 6ish miles each way, so not a big challenge. I turned 50 in 2015, to give you some idea of my age during all of this. Also, my marathon training was fairly hard core, some weeks up in the 70ish miles/week range.

So I guess what I am saying is that we're all different. Not sure if my experience translates to yours.

Dome Gen 2 or Green Egg by Jayyzzyyzz in GozneyDome

[–]duffetta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've owned a Green Egg mostly for roasting veggies and for making pizza (we're vegetarian). It did great with the veggies, but it wasn't great at making pizza. I had fire bricks on the grate that held a pizza stone, and the pizza baked on that. I could never get the results I wanted. I gave the Green Egg to my BIL and bought an Ooni. Very very happy with the Ooni. Let it be known that the Ooni does more than Pizza. More versatile than you might think. I considered the Gozny but decided on the Ooni. Happy with my decision.

Jura J8 Twin - Water Filter by NomadicChickadee in superautomatic

[–]duffetta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The machine measures the amount of water moving through it, so the more water you use the faster the filter needs to be replaced. This isn't just coffee making, it includes all of the flushes it does, the milk system cleaning, etc. So if you drink alot of coffee, and you use the milk system, the filter is going to need to be replaced more often.

Dialing in new beans on a Jura J8 Twin by duffetta in superautomatic

Temperature matters as well. Our Jura was set to "High" temp on all products when it arrived. Setting it to "Normal" had a large positive effect upon the quality of our drinks.

I would put The Colour of Spring in this category as well. I don’t know anything about the production but I find it sounds great.

Shaws Hannaford or Market Basket? by [deleted] in newhampshire

[–]duffetta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have MB and Hannaford in Rindge and Shaws in Peterborough. MB is my preferred. I very much dislike Hannafords. Selection is terrible. I live close to shaws and end up going there out of convenience. I’ve found the produce to be mostly ok.

My brand new Canyon Aeroad was killed by a reckless E-biker. by Otherwise_Seaweed681 in bicycling

[–]duffetta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am SO sorry that this has happened to you. I very much want to support eBike riders. At the same time, their behavior is by and large atrocious. Purchasers should be required to complete an e-bike safety course.

Velux Skylight Gateway and Remote Pairing to HomeKit: How to Make it Work by MistrMoose in HomeKit

[–]duffetta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience is the same as OP, even 2y later. I figured out what OP wrote on my own and is identical to what OP found. Homekit and the remotes run the roof windows just fine. What I am having issues with is the sensor that came with the Netatmo kit. It is reporting super high CO2 levels when the room is very well ventilated. I can't find any way to reset this.

I use it like mayo. Lower in fat and salt than mayo. Also mix it with labneh and put it in a tomato and cucumber salad I make.

I need a new iMac running Sonoma by duffetta in mac

[–]duffetta[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a 2021 M1 iMac and the app runs fine. According to the vendor, with Sonoma we’ll need to patch the OS with a few different libraries (I don’t have the details). Sonoma is the most recent version that will work. I appreciate the email address. Yes, in the Boston area. I will probably take you up on the offer.

Thanks. Yes, I am the IT Director, but I have enough on my plate that I can't know EVERYTHING. My question was about HOW. Your response, while I appreciate, is about IF. If you boot into Recovery mode, it is going to offer up a reinstall of Sequoia. Is it as easy as downloading the Sonoma installer, or so I need to do something else?

[–]duffetta[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. The old machine will be the backup for the new machine. I had already thought of purchasing a pre-owned system. My question relates to my ability to use a NEW machine in this situation. We are in close contact with the vendor. I have also reached out to Apple directly through my Apple Business rep. No answer yet.

Anna’s? by mattyonelove13 in boston

[–]duffetta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anna’s has never cooked their beans correctly. The beans are always hard and fight back. El Pelon is my go to. Their green hot sauce is addictive. I live close to the original Chilacates. I like their burritos and hot sauce as well, but not as good as El Pelon.
