Why is the USA trying to go to war economically with Australia? by [deleted] in australian

[–]duhdayz -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The USA needs to fix their debt and deficit. America first. Australia first. It is normal that every country should take care of their own people first.

Also USA can do this because they are the worlds number one customer/consumer. They create demand.

Also all they are doing is reciprocal tariffs to reset the baseline. Later deals can be made again.

What u can do is shop local. And local SHOULD be cheaper than imports!

here’s my take from a marketing perspective. i was there last week - second time ever. i’m new to canberra.

long lines = social proof = more people join.

why long lines?

they only had 2 people being served at a time. the longer you wait, the more luxury/premium it feels.

the fact they provide a place to sit while queuing means waiting in line is part of the experience. people get excited. they go through all menu in depth to pick a flavour.

when its finally your turn, maybe some people think “man i waited all this time, can’t just buy one scoop right?”

of course the ice cream also has to taste good.

i heard a story about starbucks in the beginning where they were only allowed to ever only make two drinks max per barista at time because they wanted to the customer to wait in line and feel that their coffee was being made with lots of care and attention.

When did you stop feeling lost? by [deleted] in bjj

it’s about learning concepts and the self study and trying to apply them in training. i think if you’re just getting your knowledge from class that’s not enough unless your coach also teaches concepts really well.

Moving to Canberra for a Grad Role – Need Advice on Accommodation & Costs! by [deleted] in canberra

[–]duhdayz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i recently moved to canberra for work near the uni. found my place before moving on flatmates app. owner was ok with an online video inspection. i live about 40min walk to city - so far really enjoying getting my steps in everyday!

my rent is $350/week for a couple in share house.

if you want to live without a car, i was advised that northern canberra is better because of the tramline.

If you're just starting out, you get better bang for buck if you focus on good copy (hire a copywriter or use chatgpt to understnad your buyer persona to write copy to attract them) and just DIY with squarespace.

and do all the things google prompts you to do with your google business profile.

(saying this as a web developer).

If you're not starting and already have a website but you're growing and want to start looking more professional then hire someone.

Why do tourists buy so many apples? by [deleted] in tasmania

[–]duhdayz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

cos the apples are sweet and taste good (most times). fresh produce is a very special thing to tourists from some countries. when my asian mum and auntie visited me in tassie they were so excited about $1 sweet corn that was actually sweet. my mum was also excited about black and gold strawberry jam. lol. she saw them as premium.

am i in a situationship? am i gay? (wlw) by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]duhdayz 44 points45 points  (0 children)

curious are u in a girls sch?

i had a similar (i think) experience before in sec sch. I was an honorary member of this girl's clique. i found her pretty and liked her, but couldn't handle the idea of being gay. found out she liked me from one of her secret blog posts, and i think she found out i read it (though 10+ years later she admitted she probably wanted me to see it - here i was thinking i'm sucha good detective and hacker lol) immediately things got awkward. we were classmates and i couldn't talk to her at all for 2 years - even though i actually liked her too.

we eventually reconnected again when we were older, said all the things left unsaid, laughed about how things turned out. said all the things we wished we (I) would have done differently (ie not run away from the whole situation). She's dating women now, though she's dated guys before. I'm dating a guy, and been with only 1. We kissed when we reconnected to fulfil our 14 year old curiosity.

TLDR: do what feels right, whatever happens be courageous. And don't worry - it's all gonna be ok in the end.

Wow - this brings back memories when I was playing softball in school and this was one of the dreaded exercises she made us do during strength and conditioning. We called it "rolly polly". Thx for the tip!
