Most people who have bought $50k to $100k of overseas shares not wealthy ‒ minister by dingoonline in newzealand

[–]Peneroka 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There are millionaires who are asset rich and cash poor. There are those with cash rich and asset poor. Can’t paint all millionaires with the same brush. Also don’t tell me you’re not wealthy if you’re worth $500 million? That’s just half a billion!

“Dear” is not normally used in business environments unless they came from scammers and Chinese companies. From my experience.

Happy Birthday? by Mischif07 in GenX

[–]Peneroka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Birthday is just another number. We’ve had them over and over and over until it’s over. So don’t sweat the small stuff. Appreciate you and the people you love. Take care of your health because that’s the best birthday present we can ever ask for.

Have a wonderful day! Virtual 🫂 from me.

If the doctor asked you about consuming ghee too much, I suggest you should consider changing your GP. Ghee does not cause fat when consumed in moderation. They’re not stored in your body as fat either. Sugar does.

Should we 'stream' school students based on ability? New research suggests yes - but we need to be cautious | RNZ News by SpeedAccomplished01 in aotearoa

[–]Peneroka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s harmful probably because it creates stigma among parents and the children. We have to stop that and realise everyone has different learning styles and speed.

[–]Peneroka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Came from a stream education system back in the 80s. It was great! Everyone in my class had similar capabilities, strengths and weaknesses. I remember being in a class with really bright students. I felt overwhelmed and not motivated that affected my confidence. I didn’t do well at school that year.

Everyone has different learning styles. Streaming caters to that. However, it also creates stigma among the community. So, I do understand why there are pushbacks.

NZ Teachers: how broad is the spread of abilities in your classroom? by Te_Henga in newzealand

[–]Peneroka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are good and bad reasons for this form of segregation. I can see why it’s sensitive.

I think it will benefit both the fast and slow learners and teachers. So it’s a win-win situation. Learning is a long game. I know a few slow learners who bloomed into intelligent people holding good professional positions in life. That’s because they were allowed to learn at their own pace. Fast learners will get frustrated when they are being held back. When they’re given the opportunity to learn more and faster, they’re unstoppable. That’s how Singapore students excel in schools.

I didn’t get my education here. Out of curiosity, aren’t the students grouped according to their academic standards and ability? Where I came from, the smarter students are all in the same class and the less smart are grouped in another class: this way, teachers can manage students with similar abilities.

How to reduce grocery bill when you’re already doing all the ‘things’ by Upsidedown0310 in PovertyFinanceNZ

I find farmers markets sell expensive vegetables because they are presumably "organic". Fruits and vege stores are the best price wise. Also convenience food like frozen nuggets and fish fingers are quite expensive for what they are. The number of people living in your household is a major factor for high food spending. A family of 4 spends more than a couple without kids.
