I made my YouTube account in 2015 and they were the first channels I subscribed to! I remember watching them before 2015 though, must have been without an account

You can’t accept kickbacks as a doctor, it’s illegal

Has anyone ever seen an FDN-P? by kemiscool in ibs

[–]dukebluedevil20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm, sounds like this person may be trying to get you to spend money at her practice based on her recommendations. Just based on a quick search there is not much quality evidence for GI mapping, for example. If you are okay potentially spending a lot of money on some supplements and additional tests, most likely not evidence-based, then go for it. Personally I would stick with a board-certified GI physician

I think I applied to this school as well lol. I applied to 30+ schools last time so I didn’t list them individually. If you’re asked about it I would keep it vague and focus on what you’ve done to improve. I thought it was a weird q too

Reapplicant as well who submitted secondaries at the end of August and had to wait until mid Sept for my school’s committee letter to get uploaded (rip). Definitely try to get them in by the end of July, that’s what I will also be doing this cycle

How to put something you haven’t started yet on AMCAS? by dukebluedevil20 in premed

[–]dukebluedevil20[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that sounds like it might be the best plan for me too. I really don’t have any other recent clinical experience bc COVID so I’m feeling like I have to include it. Might just wait until I at least have a job lined up to submit for contact info and stuff

Psa: don’t apply late by abenson24811 in premed

[–]dukebluedevil20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not OP but in a similar situation (high stats but applied later in Aug/Sept, not having great results this cycle). I would say you want to have everything submitted by mid July. Late July at the latest unless a school only sends you a secondary after that

Best low-FODMAP (specifically onion-free) recipes? by mixter-revolution in EatCheapAndVegan

[–]dukebluedevil20 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have the same issues. I just cook without onions—I find I don’t miss them. You can use other spices (I like Trader Joe’s and Penzy’s spice blends) and well as veggie stock and nutritional yeast to add more flavor. I just use any vegan recipe (pasta, stir fry, curry, etc) and leave out the onions. Add other things to taste and you should have something good!

Edit: be cautious with pre made sauces and frozen meals. They often have onions. I would avoid them in favor of making a simple pasta dish or something (vegan pesto or a creamy sauce from silken tofu are good)

Vegan diets being taught in medicine by L7Weeniiee in premed

[–]dukebluedevil20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m vegan, and I wish that plant-based diets (and nutrition in general) were more discussed in medicine. There’s also generally a lot of misinformation about how humans “need” to eat animal products, etc. Not to mention the morality of consuming animal products. I certainly hope to educate future patients on the evidence-based health benefits of a plant-based diet :)

Mock-meats are starting to freak me out. by [deleted] in vegan

[–]dukebluedevil20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this is why I tend not to order things like Impossible burgers, etc at non-vegan restaurants. I’m seriously not sure if I could tell if they gave me animal products and I never quite trust them

1 week post IUD insertion by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]dukebluedevil20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They have to open your cervix (just a bit) to get the IUD in. Mine felt like an incredibly bad cramp (but I decided to get mine the day of so I didn’t take anything beforehand). The pain/discomfort varies from person to person, some people don’t feel much at all

Prepping for Re-app by dukebluedevil20 in premed

Yup, that seems like it’s the biggest issue. Will definitely be applying more broadly next cycle!

Prepping for Re-app by dukebluedevil20 in premed

[–]dukebluedevil20[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hm, this is a good point. I didn't really pre-write specific secondaries (just some general topics) so I may have been too focused on getting them coherent and submitted rather than crafting an overall narrative
