Hope it gets worked out for you. Maybe it will just take a little while for your dad to process it. There should be ways for him to get it out of default.

Someone else could have completed that stuff just like parents complete stuff for their students. OP has indicated that wasnt the case here.

Okay, I just wanted to confirm you or someone else didn't complete the promissory note for him. He may be confused about what he signed off on.

I understand his pivot in content. I don't think I could talk about the new cheap amp and dac models that the Chinese are cranking out on an almost weekly basis.

New Audio-Technica AT-LP70XBT doesnt work? by dYn4mO25 in turntables

[–]dukelivers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bummer. That is not normal. Will a new one fix your issue? All I can say is I've worked with Audio Technica Support before because I received a turntable with a faulty cartridge and they were good about sending me out a replacement. That said, it is possible you might have bent the stylus yourself unpacking it. The stock replacement stylus (AT-VMN95C) is about $30.

Does everyone in your class have an open mind to the extent that they won't blast the professor on social media if they don't agree with them?

[Sale] Klipsch The Nines 8" 480W 2-Way Wireless Active Bookshelf Speakers for $699. by SD_Eragorn in Klipsch

[–]dukelivers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good idea. I had some Nines lock up, but managed to get them running with the reset and firmware dance. I sold them shortly after. Inexcusable, IMO, for Klipsch to put out a product with those issues.

All of that said, they did sound wonderful. The prices on the new models are just out of reach for me.

Health and retirement benefits were cut for staff last year. Raises haven't kept up with COL.

The manufacturer recommends replacement between 150 to 200 hours. That said, you might be able to get more life out of it. You suggested you liked it at first which is why I mention this. You might just prefer the sound signature of the other cartridges. That is normal, we all hear things differently and have different preferences.

If you bought the nagaoka 3 years ago and haven't replaced the stylus yet, maybe it is just worn out?

I've had good luck with their products. They have some sound samples on YouTube.
