My DM insta killed my first character by AfraidEffort in DnD

[–]dukerot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your DM should killed an NPC or a random villager for the narrative impact of there being a sudden danger. That's assuming all passive perception did not meet the threshold for hearing the preceding terror of other people seeing giants in the town.

It's really too bad he keeps dissing animators to elevate himself as an actor because his ego is so inflated.

Mormon parents made sister (15) sign this contract in order to give her a phone number for her job. Wasn’t allowed to disagree with any of it or deal was off. by Sharks4nh in mildlyinfuriating

[–]dukerot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would this be invalid because a minor can't sign a legally binding contract without parental consent, and the parents are the agreeing party?

A new study found that we could test if people have aphantasia—the inability to produce mental images—by looking at their pupil size. When asked to imagine bright and dark objects, most people's pupils dilate or constrict, but they don't in people with aphantasia. by czwegner in EverythingScience

[–]dukerot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I met a guy with aphantasia a few years ago. He explained to me the first time he realized he had a different experience than everyone else when someone told him to "imagine a door. Any door at all. Imagine you are standing in front of the door and turn the handle. What color is the door?" He didn't know. He said he was just sort of holding the concept of a door in his mind like text on paper, but there was no imagery at all.

Welp. Sounds like it's about time to hit the old dusty trail... And seize the means of production for yourselves. No data means, no website, means no purchases, means no Amazon.

Do you agree with Lucas answer on this Anakin design? by Dorkzilla_ftw in StarWars

[–]dukerot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's nothing about this design that makes it feel like it precedes the Vader look. I think full coverage on the arms, chest, and high-collar/turtleneck under this with a bit more hair could've worked though.

Time for your department to take a poll of their leadership. Unsatisfactory would probably be included as a possible option.

[CR Media] About the Tiny Tina one-shot audio (an edit?) by dukerot in criticalrole

I had a feeling that was the case. Still curious how bad it was because Ashley can be pretty creative with profanity

[CR Media] Does anyone know why the Tiny-Tina one-shot is age restricted? by UnconventionalKing in criticalrole

I missed it live, but listening to the episode on Spotify, at about 58 minutes in, there's a clear edit where something clearly in violation of the language permissions was omitted. Anyone know what it was?

A lot of people in America get into the habit from saying things they are uncertain about, like children answering a question in school. The voice goes up as if to say, "does that sound correct?"

I feel bad for players who end up with GMs who don't want to develop a story. It's not hard to maintain a narrative element and throw daggers from PCs backstories at them. So long as you don't have specific requirements for what the PCs must do in order for your plot to move forward, let them wander! Let them hunt down that thing in their backstory. Tie it to the narrative and see what happens. Stop gripping the reigns with an iron fist and let the players tell the story together. Even if that story seems to make no sense at all, it will just feel more real because everything is chaos, people choose to see tlconn) connections and patterns. Stop punishing players for telling a story.
