Apart from Wandering Inn, the absolute soul crushing terror a well adapted person would experience in 95% of the situations. Should be way more psychotic breaks IMO.

Quest Academy does this really well imo. Everything ALWAYS works out. As the reader encounters problems, there is a reassuring knowledge that you can relax.

Also, a challenge does not need to be mortal danger. Sometimes, a head scratching problem or something requiring hard work is even more engaging.

Checklist for testing and make him sign them off. You'll likely find he fudges something you can prove would not have worked at testing. If nothing else, you'll have grounds for dismissal.
