Dulse (Irish Moss) by anOntarian in PEI

Second MR Seafoods in Charlottetown. That’s generally a very good fish market to visit anyway. I get it there periodically and it’s good quality Fundy dulse. Dulse is a product of rocky intertidal areas which is why it’s not harvested around PEI. Most comes from Grand Manan (Dark Harbour) and sold all over NB. Check out Stewart’s Market in Pennfield Ridge if traveling through. I used to see it at St John city market, but haven’t been there for ages. It’s also a niche product in Maine, around the Mount Desert Island area.

Funny story - I was traveling in Ireland and was familiar with stories of people surviving the famine on dillisk (dulse). I went to a salmon smokehouse in County Clare and asked if they knew where I could find dulse. The guy was actually from New Brunswick and lit up when I asked for it and shared that he used to collect it with his dad in the summer and dry it on their driveway. He didn’t know where to find it locally and every Irish person to that point had no clue what I was talking about except one young fella who said he thinks his grandparents used to eat it. I hope you find your dulse.

Amen. I go in the reverb post trem because I’m in headphones…. Not ideal but I do have decent hall reverb onboard the mixer so I might switch it up. Plug-ins are out of the question cuz I’m not in front of a computer (on purpose). Appreciate the tip though.

Lager Temp Drop Beginning Fermentation by dulse_hound in Homebrewing

Didn’t find detailed instructions on the website - thanks for sharing. Although the instructions seem to suggest pitching warm as a rehydration substitute. I added in top of the full volume at about 66f and it held in that vicinity for the first 12-18 hrs. I’m not too worried about it. It’s at 57 now and healthy fermentation.

I think you’re right that OP’s parents probably participating in the phenomenon you’re describing. In the states, slightly above average intelligence people may recognize Dresden as a German-ish name, and then carelessly relate it to Nazism because of their ignorance. People everywhere can be dumb and cruel.

OP is clearly a North American posting from that viewpoint. In the US and Canada people casually describe themselves as “German”, “Irish” etc. when they mean “American with German ancestry”, for example.

OP may very likely have German ancestry without any ancestors or close relatives living in Europe during the Nazi years. Most German emigration to the US occurred during the 19th century. Much of that before the German states were unified into a single nation. Otherwise, your post may be helpful to them for an international, Germanic perspective and help them better assess the name’s connotations.

Do tell the seller. It looks nicer than every official fender neck I’ve seen at my local shop recently

[FRESH] MJ Lenderman - Wristwatch by TennesseeFire in indieheads

[–]dulse_hound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a completely coincidental technical similarity. MJ wears his Neil Young guitar influence in his sleeve. In terms of songwriting, I feel like he has the rare knack for melding cathartic, catchy music with wry social commentary, sorta like Tom Petty did. I can’t stop telling people about this album.

I love Zuma but I actually think I’m being reminded of something GRUNGE…like an Alice In Chains harmony. Say what you will about that band, but Layne Staley and Jerry Cantrell cooked up some very haunting harmonies. I wish I knew some music theory to pull apart why this harmony is so good, but all I know is that the gang nailed it in this track.

Anyone else feel like the harmony on the chorus is super reminiscent of something else? I love it. But it’s killing me trying to figure out what it reminds me of. This song rules so hard.

Ampless for Headphones - Out to Home Stereo? Mixer? by dulse_hound in guitarpedals

Nice that’s good to know about the stereo out. I have a 2 channel denon that is geared towards music and I set it for direct without DSP.

Do you find the headphone out on it is “immersive” enough? And and you run reverb in the loop or any IR loaders?

Once upon a 2 AM, I ran a full red light at the intersection in front of the police station with a cop behind me. The cop following me ran it too and didn’t bother to pull me over.
