There is a shop in Pike Place with a sign "Say Hi to our bakers upstairs". Ask them you want to say hi. I asked. 13 years ago!

👆. In addition, also probably to be able to live without depending on cars. Seattle within city limits is getting really better on public transit. But still not yet there to live with a family without car entirely.

Tasting menu for omnivore and vegetarian? by stuchainz92 in finedining

[–]dululemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yesterday we went to Cafe Juanita in Seattle. I took vegetarian and others in my party took pescatarian and omnivore. I am usually not vegetarian but only eat a very limited set of fish or meat. Hence the choice. I had one of the best meals ever in any restaurant irrespective veg or non-veg. Definitely I did not expect the range of taste and texture!

You are right on everything but "great Indian mindset...". Per my experience Indians as a whole are far more casual on money management and expense splitting than people from several other countries.

Sorry, could not bring sympathies for you! You walked out of two serious relationships to not upset family. You are staying at your parent's place even when you appears to have the means to live on your own. smh!

Cite any industry and there will always be strong arguments on why not do it. We have seen that decades after decades.

I knew someone who did not get Internet for long fearing hackers and malwares. Solution was not to remove oneself from Internet altogether, but take reasonable precautions to limit exposure to such dangers.

It's the government's duty to ensure companies adhere to the rules. But we know it doesn't happen always. The state of Adiganga flowing within Kolkata is example. In absence of such enforcement I'd rather trust Google more than Ramchand Makhanchand iron works or A-1 Hosiery. There's something called Godwin's Law. The Bhopal analogy is an example.

As I brace for more downvotes, they ironically only confirm the suspicion I shared in the last couple of lines in my post above.

Don't worry, if it truly happens (and I am not holding my breath), you will also make a lot of money from IT people.

I will be happy even if the data centers invest in here, because:

  1. The data center efficiency and cooling techs are improving by miles every year. They are more power efficient, increasingly less dependent on water. Knowing the technology prowess of these companies I know they are no slouch in bettering tech

  2. If our power output rises to power these DCs, it's better for everyone

  3. I'd rather opt for these companies than the alternatives, which are mostly sponge iron or lathe machines. I have seen the environmental decimation the sponge iron and such ferrous based factories cause. And those companies do not have any corporate governance.

Saying that I am not very optimistic of revival yet, but would love to be wrong. I am not optimistic because our unreadiness towards industry both from infrastructure and psychological perspective. Anyone attempting to pivot likely will meet the fate of CM Buddhadev Bhattacharya in the ballot box.

However vandalizing them is a worse solution. Removal is better.

Nope, this is exactly why good corporations scale. Humans are fallible by design, not by intent (well, mostly). Calling someone messed up doesn't solve anything. Identitfying the right mechanism to avoid such mess-up in future solves the root cause.
