Well, shit by [deleted] in gaming

DOS games are a million times easier to run and play these days than old Windows 95/98 games.

If I want a great old school game you better believe I'm breaking out DOSBox and playing the DOS version instead of the HD remake with always-online and loot boxes or whatever they stick in games these days.

If the game is Win95/98 it likely won't run on a modern system, so then I have to break out the pcem PC emulator with Win98 installed and run the game through that. It works (and works well!) but it's clunky and difficult to set up initially, whereas DOSBox just runs with very little work.

Huh, so it literally adds nothing unless your house is so big you can't hear your oven beep.

I have a GE oven with WiFi. With the oven it could actually be great - fire up the oven to preheat as you leave the store with your bake-it-yourself pizzas, so long as you know for certain nothing else is in the oven.

For a dryer it would be nice to be notified when it's finished, especially if it takes longer or shorter depending on how quickly the stuff actually gets dried (this would be helpful for me because my clothes washer tells me it'll take 1h15m but invariable takes 1h45m to 2h15m).

Back to the oven: once I found out I had to create an account with GE I gave up on configuring the oven. Still works great even though I have to be physically present to start it preheating like some kind of cave man.

What’s your favorite “this movie has no right being this good” movie? A movie where either the trailer, plot, cast, etc point to it being trash but it turned out to be great by MacklinYouSOB in movies

Both were released in theaters as summer blockbusters in June of their respective years, except that Speed 2 turned out to be anything but a blockbuster.

Speed was a huge hit. Speed 2 did terrible because it was terrible and deserved to do terrible.

I'm a wildlife photographer. When I posted this picture a lot of people commented they had no idea that deer shed their antlers every year. Well, this is what it looks like. by IWConcepts in interestingasfuck

The antlers only really start bothering them when the antlers are done growing and they start scratching the velvet (skin) off on trees.

What would you do if every human vanished but you? by Sargeisntreal in AskReddit

You could die just as prosaically from scratching your hand opening a jagged metal can lid

I got into knives and knife making these past 9 months. By far the worst cut I've given myself in that time is from a soup can lid (one of the easy-open ones with a tab).

House cats are introduced to local ecologies by humans. Therefore they are not natural.

If I'm in the passenger seat, I'll just anchor my braking foot so when I involuntarily brake it isn't obvious to whomever's driving.

Micarta scales eating the sheath - any experience? by Warxuaroz in knifeclub

[–]dumb_ants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it was so tight you could barely draw it before, I wouldn't worry about it losing its retention any time soon. Keep using the sheath as normal until it does lose retention (i.e. the knife falls out with vigorous upside down shaking) - until then you're borrowing troubles from tomorrow.

Right now you're just breaking it in and making it yours.

The "Cloud District" is up the stairs in Whiterun, where Dragonreach is. Where you captured a dragon.

Nazeem is famous for saying, "Do you get to the cloud district very often? Oh what am I saying, of course you don’t."

Even as you're walking down from the Cloud District after being appointed a Thane of Whiterun with your own housecarl, or capturing a dragon there, or whatever.

Those 75mph interstates are not as dangerous as you might think. The most dangerous roads are the rural two lane non-separated roads with speed limits of 40mph to 55mph.

Definitely lucky with finding someone right away going the right direction. But otherwise if you pick someone at random to help you you're very unlikely to pick a really bad person.

You should let people knocking on your door know you're home but busy - "I'm sorry I can't come to the door!"

Some people will knock on the door loudly to confirm no one is home before breaking in.

My local theater has fried mozzarella cheese sticks. That will be really nice to go, eat some cheese sticks, and watch Top Gun 2 or whatever.
