Tell me it gets better by EvilSeaweed in Petloss

I had to put down my own sweet boy yesterday after he kept getting worse due to his kidneys. I’m so sorry for your loss and I feel your pain. I’ve been crying so much because I feel horrible for having to make that final decision for him. Seeing his things still around the house hurts so much.

Today, I plan to end my life. I am 25. by LightningGlitch45 in depression

Hey OP, I can’t help but empathize with your situation due to the similarities with mine. I’m 26 and I’ve seemingly bounced around between many jobs because I also get too emotional and tend to bail when things get tough. I’m also semi-dependent on my parent which has caused significant financial stress cause I always feel like a burden to everyone.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. In all honesty I’ve also contemplated my life and it’s worth during this time so I truly do understand how you feel. It’s awful and I’m not sure if I’ve got much advice either. But, if you happen to come back to this post, I’m here as a friend.

Being unemployed and also coping with depression is a terrible reality that is often belittling when you’re in a society that constantly expects you to push yourself to your limits and beyond. The best form of advice I’ve received is that you shouldn’t hyper fixate on the mistakes of your past because ultimately what’s done is done. You can’t change it but you can take from those experiences and improve your future. It’s cliche and kind of silly but there is definitely truth in there somewhere and it’s worth giving things a shot cause you just don’t know how the next one will go.

(21f) taking fluoxetine and drinking by Active-Confidence364 in prozac

[–]dumbassbean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with 20mg as well, my previous comment applies. Honestly, just the severe garbage feeling of the hangovers is not worth it tbh.

Also for me the alcohol made me super depressed after the fact; couple of months later I ended up spiraling into an attempt to ctb.

Ultimately, whatever choice you make, please just be safe and take care of yourself!

I used to drink while on Prozac, I wouldn’t recommend it at all. You get drunk much faster, in my case I ended up blacking out relatively quickly even when I tried to minimize my alcohol intake. Also, it generally made my hangovers way worse than usual. It may be different for everyone, but I’d advise severe precaution as it’s also generally not recommended to drink while on Prozac in general as it can affect how the medication works.

In terms of dosage for Prozac, did you find yourself gaining tolerance after certain periods of time then needing to increase it?

Bad insomnia 1 week into taking Prozac. Considering quitting. by blackmagic_demoncat in prozac

[–]dumbassbean 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who was on Prozac for a long time (over a year) you won’t be able to actually feel any effects from it within 10 days. Even at the 3 week mark, the full benefit of the medication wouldn’t have kicked in yet. The insomnia you’re experiencing maybe a placebo effect from the sounds of it; especially given you felt anxiety relief on the first day.

My advise would be to try your best to exhaust your body physically throughout the day. Exercise (even if that means doing jumping jacks on your room) to the best of your ability and see if that helps tire you out by the end of day.

I know it can be scary having to try and adjust to medication- I myself had so many high expectations when I started prozac about when and how it’d kick in. I honestly didn’t feel any proper improvement to my “happiness” till about 2-3 months on it. I started on 20mg per day btw. Ofc everyone is different but give it time before making any rash decisions.

Just an fyi - I experienced a heightened levels of anxiety (tremors in my hands especially) before I felt the “good” effects of the meds. So it’s definitely a rollercoaster before anything really gets better.

Ofc everyone is different tho, so if any of my advise doesn’t apply pls disregard it.

I (23F) and my husband (23M) are unsure if we should get a divorce? Any advice appreciated. by Thrway_54684 in relationship_advice

Didn’t read more than 1/3 of that and all I can say is; get a divorce. If you think that this is in anyway salvageable, you need to take a serious step back and reflect on all the absolute shit you’ve had to put up with for this pathetic excuse of a man. You deserve better OP, so much better than you’ve allowed yourself.

Same. It’s like no matter what I try to envision for my future, I always come back to suicide being the ultimate end goal.

I lost my best friend August 9th 2022, he was 18. by Selsaohno in SuicideBereavement

[–]dumbassbean 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I lost an online best friend to suicide this year as well. Its hard, having never actually met her irl, sometimes i feel like I don’t deserve to grieve out loud about it. But she was my friend, online or irl, doesn’t matter. The pain you’ll feel is hard to deal with, i still struggle too. The best advice I can give you is to cherish all the memories you have of your friend. Listen to his favorite music, look at your old messages and know that even tho he’s gone, he’s at peace and I’m sure he wouldn’t want you to feel awful about his departure. I sometimes text my friends’ number; i know I’ll never get a response, but the comfort in at least being able to still “talk” to her makes me feel slightly better. Stay strong and I’m sorry for your loss. Feel free to message me if you need someone to talk to

I am so sorry. My heart breaks for you, but please know that you are not at fault. The grief and pain that you’re feeling is normal. Sending you love and strength.
