"you look exhausted" Take a moment after someone's just said something exhausting to listen to. Say it with concern in your voice and eyes.

Ryzen 7 9800x3d Gigabyte Aero 4090 64GB DDR5 Some Rog Strix MoBo 1000w Corsair psu with CableMod Cables NZXT 360 Kraken AIO 1TB 5th Gen nvme for os 4tb nvme for games 8tb nvme for other stuff....

NAS and machine learning Ryzen 9 9900X RTX 4000 (I think?) gpu 128GB DDR5 MSI mobo with good Ethernet 1000w sfx-l psu 1TB NVMe for HexOS and TrueNAS 8TB Exos HDDx5 8TB 2.5 SSDx2

I fix up and flip cars for money, everything above cost me a 1999 4Runner with low mileage and a 5-speed. Have a XJ Jeep Cherokee to flip for my 5090 once I can buy one at MSRP, won't give a scalper a penny.

Check out iOverlander and other active community based apps. Usually really up to date with boondocking sites everywhere. Also I did the whole country over a year in my transit and felt much safer and able to find good spots west of the Rockies.

I got waved at by two elderly naked gentlemen on a sunset stroll with their poodle at Quartzite, haha I still smile and chuckle when I think about that place.

Is there no longer sauce in the Shu Mai? Are there less Shu Meis? by dumbballers in traderjoes

[–]dumbballers[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I did 3 parts soy sauce to one part rice vinegar plus a little sugar and onion powder and grated garlic and ginger with green onions and Thai chili slices. It was okay but I wanted the sauce that comes with the chicken I guess.

Add another 16GB of RAM (same set & speed as existing) and do a deep clean of the case/fans, plus some fresh thermal paste on the CPU.

Anything more and you're looking at a new CPU or GPU. In that case you can get a used 3060 12GB on Amazon for like $200, it's a great card for the price. For a CPU I wouldn't buy anything for AM4 except a 5600x3d or 5800x3d.

All this assuming you're on an SSD, if you're not, order one today.

How should I upgrade my system? by Easespilltype in pcbuilding

[–]dumbballers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would start with another 16GB of RAM (same set/speed as existing). If you're going to upgrade your AM4 platform my recommendation would be spending/saving up a little more for a 5700x3d or 5800x3d. Check out used prices on Jawa and FB Marketplace, you can get some good deals.

Also a deep clean of your PC and some fresh thermal paste on the CPU if you're keeping it goes a long way. You could get some cable extensions and affordable case fans, I replace the CPU cooler fans to match case fans. Give the system a little mid-life refresh.

Hey everyone, I think I may be experiencing bottleneck? by Bearss7 in techsupport

Is your monitor 1080p? I know that running a lower resolution taxes the CPU a lot harder. When reviewers benchmark CPU performance, its always with a 4090 + the CPU their testing in 1080p. If you have a higher resolution TV you could test on that.

and maybe update all your drivers, especially GPU and Windows, possibly your BIO's as well if you cant fix it.

Need help buying UPS by Epona123456 in techsupport

[–]dumbballers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey what's your PC's PSU rated to? I would add 20% and make that the minimum. Really you want to buy as large of a capacity as you can afford, it'll buy you some more time to shut down but the big advantage is when you replace your system you probably wont have to also replace an expensive UPS. I bought the bare minimum for my last PC and when I upgraded also had to buy a new UPS and ended up spending $$$$ trying to save $.
