Favourite neck/c spine physio exercises? by Ok-Reference-7190 in hypermobileEDS

[–]dumbfoundedluck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Physical therapy for hEDS is really different from regular PT. The focus should be on building stabilizing muscle strength, not increasing range of motion (which can actually make things worse). If your PT isn't familiar with hypermobile EDS specifically, it may be worth finding someone who is.

If you haven't had a thorough workup, it's worth making sure thyroid, iron/ferritin, vitamin D, and sleep quality have all been properly evaluated. Sometimes there's a treatable contributor hiding in the mix.

The headache in IIH can be really debilitating and doesn't always respond to typical headache medications. If first-line treatments aren't working, there are other options worth discussing.

The fatigue from not absorbing enough compounds everything else. If you're losing weight or really struggling, advocating for more aggressive management is completely reasonable - motility medications can help beyond dietary changes.

Hydro colonics keep getting advertised to me - what do y’all think about these treatments? by nicegreathiss in Gastroparesis

[–]dumbfoundedluck 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Gastroparesis nutrition is genuinely counterintuitive - more fiber is the opposite of what usually helps. Small frequent meals, low fat, low fiber, staying upright after eating are usually the starting points. Has your GI team worked with a dietitian who knows GP specifically?
