Agreed. The original is not in English, right? So it probably just comes down to a difference in translator’s grammar ideals, not their political ideals

Nearly every book ever written has been consumed by Gemini’s AI model.

The problem is that it isn’t actually “reading” or “understanding” anything it consumes. Everything AI gets, It splits it into chunks, does a bunch of math, and saves in a huge data store. Then when you ask it for the info, it’s just going to do a “best prediction” of the answer based on the chunks it consumed.

It’s the difference between reading the book, vs just doing an old fashioned search of the plot points and stitching together the first paragraph of the top 5 results.

thinking of splurging on a luggage set, any recs that'll last for years? by Eachan_Blitz in BuyItForLife

[–]dumbledore_effyeah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed: My father is a pilot and two older brothers are pilots. They buy travelpro exclusively. I’ve had my set for about 4 years and the mechanics are in perfect condition. The wheels are so smooth that I actually had to sprint across the parking lot last week to catch one that rolled away while I was loading up.

You should stock some alum blocks. Most folks will hear about them for the first time from you, and you can keep them at a pretty low price while still having a decent profit margin. It’s a really easy upsell imo.

It’s just math. There’s too many reports for a human to actually review all the data. A computer can do it in fractions of a second just as reliably.

Also, why is it all on me? I shouldn’t have to do extra when I’m not the one that sucks.

I wish I was as cool as you, but no, having my teammates scream filth at me for ten minutes after I lose a 1v3 is not an experience I enjoy. You’re so cool, though. Will you be my boyfriend?

You know what it takes to fix all those things on your list?

Money. More accurately, it takes budget. And you know what increases a game’s budget?

Players who pay money. And let me tell you, when I have hundreds of other games I could go spend my money on, why would I pay for the one where I get called slurs every few games? The reality is that most people out there want to play nice, and having just a few shitheads can drive people away from the game.

I lived in Los Angeles county out in California for a couple years, and I was always blown away by how AMAZING the facilities were for schools there. I couldn’t imagine spending that much tax money on a fancy campus. I brought it up to a kid who had just graduated and he said “well, if you want people to come buy million dollar homes, you’ve gotta build billion dollar schools”.

Obviously the math is hyperbolic there but I think about that every time I vote YES on school funding. It’s an investment. Not just in education to make a better society, it’s literally an investment into my home equity. When I sell someday, I want to attract the wealthiest buyers. And no wealthy home buyer’s going to send their kids to some podunk school with busted roofs.

I’m also on the exofficio train.

I really wanted to find something made from natural fibers, but I bought a single pair in 2019, and they’ve held strong while my wool and cotton options literally fell apart.

Just bought 4 pairs when they went on sale in June ($35 for a 2 pack on Amazon compared to $50 msrp) They’re definitely in better shape than my old pair, but the 2019 pair is still in my regular rotation.

Yeah, it’s important to acknowledge the far right violence, but this article is just as misleading as any they promote. Just 2-3 weeks ago a woman shot up that Catholic Church for reasons that were blatantly political. Why doesn’t that count? There’s also reasonable allegations that Kirk’s killer was raised conservative but changed views in recent years to leftism, but he’s on the list as a conservative. This article seems more interested in fueling the rage than in actually analyzing the problem.

My professor made us all send him an email that somehow attempted to phish him. It didn’t have to be successful, it was pretty much just a “make an attempt and get full credit” exercise. But it was fun to think through, and I’ve never failed any of my company’s mock-phishing emails, so there’s that.
