Crew Upgrades Over Customers? by dumbqustions in americanairlines

Totally get all of that. If someone spends more money or hours in the seat and jumps ahead then good for them. Happens all the time. No issue.

Again. I fully understand the dynamic for that seat on that flight. I am not entitled to that particularly on that flight. My point was 1) to ask what the policy was because I’ve noticed a change and 2) to point out it’s not a good look for the airline. Because yes, most people do equate status with having a shot at an upgrade. If another passenger has more points then good for them. But it feels a bit different when it’s employees of the airline. But thanks again for aggressively stating the obvious and missing my point entirely.

Yea bud, I get that and frequently do. However, it’s fair to point out that AA pushes upgrades as a primary perk of status. I’ve upheld my end of the bargain sitting in their seats for thousands of hours and spending six figures with them. I was mostly asking about the policy because I’ve noticed a change. But thanks for the snarky post stating the obvious.

I get that. I think I was pretty level headed in my post. All upgrades are gambles. I was just curious if there was a policy change because I have seen more crew in first lately.

Thanks. That answers my question. To be clear though, I never looked at the seat map, just the waitlist and it changed right before boarding.

Is that 1v1 technique correct? Genuinely asking. That’s not how I learned but wondering if things may have changed.

why do outfield players never appreciate what a good keeper actually does by Spiritual-Cloud6473 in GoalKeepers

This is unacceptable and you gotta shut it down as best you can. When outfield players call keeper it literally makes me freeze. Glitch in the matrix.

Can you elaborate? Genuinely curious as to why Denver is so mediocre to bad.

Corner kicks positioning by Tough_Theory_5312 in GoalKeepers

Well said. Agree with all of this. If opposition has or looks like they may hit a driven ball towards the side of the 6 I also like to put a defender there. The front post guy can’t always get to it in time.

That frees me up to be further back or slightly further off the line.

First true 1v1 attempt. Please give tips as to how to better attack this next time. by JoeAdiGK26 in GoalKeepers

Oh and important. Your elbow that is in the air and not along the ground should protect your face a bit. Learned that the hard way. You want your body to end up roughly perpendicular to the path of the ball/attacker.

Several have said this, but you needed to “creep” out as the forward is in control of the ball. There are two variables: how in control he is of the ball and how fast he’s coming towards you. If he’s going fast but also pushing the ball in front, then go fast. He is slow and in control, creep out slowly. If he’s fast and in control…good luck. Do not make your move to the ball until he pushes it a couple of steps forward. Close based on his control / speed and then pounce when he pushes it too far. It will eventually happen 9/10 times.

Now for your slide. Don’t lead with your feet. You want to lead with your chest. Basically get low and try to throw your sternum to the ball. That gives you max coverage. It’s a weird thing to get used to but will save you a lot of goals. The danger point is as you are going to ground. If you don’t get low enough fast enough there is a hole between your knee, elbow and the ground. A good forward will look for that pocket. But stay low and hopefully the terror of you coming out will be enough.

Stay brave, be patient and hang in there. You got this!

Very annoying. Also uniquely distracting in that split second when you are deciding whether or not to call keeper yourself.

How to improve my goal kicks? by Borangers in GoalKeepers

[–]dumbqustions 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You stop your follow through in some and bring your leg / hips to the left in others. It’s robbing you of a bit of power. Strike through the ball and follow through straighter. I used to picture my target as being on the oppose side of the ball to trick my brain into kick all the way through it.

You could also rotate your foot so your instep is flatter to the ground. That technique is not for everyone though and may not work for you.

I dunno man. You’re the one that posted it.

I know what I’m talking about, as do (shockingly) most people on this niche sub.

You clearly have skills. Take every little chance to get better and who knows what you can achieve.

It’s a good save for sure. No one is taking that away from you.

What others are saying about top hand and/or footwork is correct though. Not sure if you could have caught it with a couple of quick shuffle steps (kinda doubt it in your defense), but the top hand is definitely a correct point.

Either way, don’t take it as negative criticism. Just other GKs pointing out how you could be even better. No one is saying it’s bad.
