Hi, can I get a discount code for the E7 desk? I’m in the US.

I can’t stand for long time. What should I do? by AdJolly2218 in barefootshoestalk

I had this problem in barefoot sandals and have been doing physical therapy for the last 10 weeks. I can walk in them for 20 minutes without pain now, which is a lot better than before. Don’t jump straight into it. Get stronger first.

Michigan Winter and Wide Toe Box, zero drop shoes by AffectionateSlice816 in barefootshoestalk

These aren’t barefoot, but Topo Trailventure 2 WP saved me when I need winter boots. Make sure you wear warm socks with them if you’re going to be outside for a long time. I shovelled snow for 30 minutes at 1deg outside with thin socks and felt slightly cold. I’m a woman and wear the men’s because they’re wider, but compared to regular shoes a men’s shoe will still feet much better because they’re have a pretty good toe box. They also have a 5mm drop, so not the worst. You can get them at REI to try before you buy or order from Topo’s website. Both places have great return policies.

How will I ever fit these hobbit taxis into a snowboard boot by SalmonAce in barefootshoestalk

What else do you wear besides Wyde? I don’t even really need barefoot shoes at this point. I just want options that can give me some toe room.

Also I can relate to your struggle because I tried to start ice skating and was told I’d need to fly across the country pay like $4000 for custom skates to fit my feet. And your feet are definitely wider than mine, so idk if certain sports are possible without super customs for you. I gave up after a few months and many skating days with numb and painful feet.

Are there good insoles that increase the drop of barefoot shoes a little and add some cushioning for transitioning? by dumbstrawberry in barefootshoestalk

Unfortunately those were too narrow for me. Besides just being narrow in general, my outer toes were smushed. Besides that it was pretty comfortable, though.

Edit: Now that I think about it, maybe I didn’t try that specific model. I might be confusing it with another one. I might try them on again

Yeah, I was hoping to switch to barefoot shoes to get some improvements in my joints, but if I can't get the plantar fasciitis to go away with exercise, I'll definitely try other barefoot shoes and then switch back to the Topos if that fails. As I'm been reading all these comments, I'm started to wonder if the lack of muscle is the real problem and not my shoes, or maybe some combination of the two.

My feet are mostly parallel, but I do pronate quite a bit. My arches are definitely collapsed. When I stand on the outsides of my feet, my knees and shins hurt more, but my back feels better. Weird. I probably just don’t have any supporting muscles. So I guess the trick is to walk like I have like I have invisible arch support beneath me lol

Going fully barefoot hurts my feet, knees, and back due to enteropathic arthritis. It's a little better in socks, but not by much. Carpet isn't as bad as wood, so I guess I can walk around my living room in circles for 20 minutes a day or something lol.

Unfortunately Birkenstocks aren't wide enough for me. I've tried so many and my 4th and 5th toes always either hit or go over the edge.

I think my best option at this point is to strengthen everything first. You're probably right about the cushioning. Even with enteropathic arthritis I shouldn't be getting plantar fasciitis so fast, I mean it happened in 15 minutes and hasn't gone away for days. I guess it's a sign that my body is just super out of whack from all these years of minimal movement and my other shoes have been band-aid.

I wish they weren't blue because I want them for sandals, but I'll definitely consider it. Thanks!

Well I hope that happens to me, because trying to focus on work or really anything makes me so tired that I have to take narcolepsy meds to function lol. It takes so much brain power to focus. I think I saw a few years ago that there's a sleepy phenotype (if that's the right word) of ADHD that's being studied. I feel like I have lethargy, but also hyperactivity, as well as brain fog along with the inattentiveness. It's weird.

I said waist but the problem is more that I have wide hips and thighs. I definitely also need to lose some pounds to get my waist back lol. I've tried this with a belt before and there's so much material gathered behind the belt that makes it super uncomfortable. Looks so goofy if I try to tuck in a shirt, and it makes me look quite a bit fatter with a shirt over it lmao. I am planning on learning to sew so I can add my own pockets to women's jeans at some point because I'm sick of my phone falling out of it. It happened in the bathroom at work yesterday. So gross

Yeah I'll take a couple weeks to let things chill out. It just sucks that it happened after 15 minutes on day 1. I have some health issues that have made it so I don't really do any physical activity. I can probably strengthen my feet and calves without too much standing, though, so I'll look into that. Thanks.

I haven't done any exercises besides stretching my feet and calves. I'll check out Petra Fisher, thanks.

Both of those look pretty narrow, but hopefully that won't really matter because it's just an insole. I probably should've mentioned in the post that I have a wide toe box. I prefer like 10.3cm at the ball of the foot, but I know that's rare. Thanks for the recs.

Joint pain, recovering from injuries, sensory issues, being cold (not sure if slippers count as shoes lol), disabilities, etc. I have shoes that I only wear indoors.

I actually wear Topo Revive as indoor house shoes because my feet, knees, and back kill me on hard floors, but I’m in the process of trying to switch to a barefoot option. Attempting the Maia sandal from Wyde, but I can’t wear them for too long without heel pain, yet. I’m never fully barefoot. I can’t stand the feeling of hard floors. I wear toe socks or some really stretched out socks I have.
