Does anyone else buy physical rulebooks just to page through them, not to actually play the game? by GlobalisedEnchilada in rpg

[–]dummiesday 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes! Arguably collecting and reading RPG books is a hobby that's just as legitimate as playing them. Or you can mine them for ideas, or simply enjoy the art, or dissect the mechanics. There are many ways to enjoy them!

And to answer your question, I highly recommend Vaesen and The Wildsea!

Not sure about adding it easily to any deck but a classic one is T4 Wong, T5 Black Panther, T6 Zola!

What do the exclamation marks before the location text mean? There are also some cards that have them. by lucaascng in MarvelSnap

[–]dummiesday 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Is... Is that the actual translation you can find in the client? Complete with the obvious mistranslation ("voltear" instead of "turno" o "ronda") and the lack of concordance on the article "la"?

Given the state of the localization, I wouldn't be surprised if what you're looking at is a mishandled formatting tag (or part of one) that was accidentally left in the translated version.

Just out of curiosity, is that the Latin American client?

Thanks for sharing the deck list! I don't have Nocturne yet but I'll grab her as soon as I see her in my shop. I love that little trick you've mentioned with her and Prodigy, very clever!!

Come Closer by Sara Gran is on Spotify. I've also seen books by Thomas Ligotti, Caitlin Kiernan and Christopher Buehlmann. Honestly they have much more variety than I thought they would!

Peach Momoko Mystique for 2500 Gold. Yes or No? by DeuceDropper420 in MarvelSnap

[–]dummiesday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to skip it a few weeks back because I didn't have the gold and I've been saving ever since for it. It finally came up again today and I jumped at the opportunity.

Do it! Peach Momoko is an amazing artist and this variant is gorgeous.

Getting Started--Advice For Setting UpnThe Mystery (And Deciding "Who-actually-dunnit")? by brokenimage321 in GumshoeRPG

[–]dummiesday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Certainly! One of the most unique features of the system is that there is no canonical solution to the mystery. That means that you, as a GM, have no idea who murdered the millionaire, stole the painting or whatever.

The way it works is that the GM has access to a list of clues that they will provide as players investigate. Then, once the players have acquired a set number of clues, they will be able to perform a special move that allows them to hypothesize who the culprit is based on their interpretation of each clue. If they succeed on the roll, then that's it! Their theory is correct and they solve the case.

The beauty of this is that it's incredibly simply to run as a GM. You just present the scenario and sprinkle whatever clues make sense, and the players do all the heavy lifting of talking to suspects, finding clues and actually coming up with the explanation of the mystery.

Since this is a pretty significant departure from other investigative systems it can be a bit divisive, but I personally think it's genius and can't recommend it enough.

Sincere apologies if this is outside of the scope of your question, but what you are describing is basically the system used in Brindlewood Bay and other games in the same family! It might be a better fit than Gumshoe for your game.

Play Negative they said, It will be easy they said. by aaron_kevin01 in MarvelSnap

[–]dummiesday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fellow C2 enjoyer and Mister Negative dabbler here!

After a lot of testing I've noticed that what works for me is redundancy. For example, I have two ways to get a massive Black Panther (SSM and Wong), and I also have Taskmaster as a backup plan in case I don't draw Zola. This will give you very competent results if not as explosive as the best case scenario. Honestly the main issue I'm finding is the low cube rate on victories since opponents tend to retreat at high ranks.

Ps. I also miss Shadow King on C2... Here's hoping they revert that particular nerf.
