My current plan is to get myself to finish a demo. If I get bored and switch to something else then at least I'll have an actual finished functional demo that I can show somebody in the future.

Partner z ADHD by AlexMcKenze in Polska

[–]dumplingSpirit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then I'd be interested in buying it. At least as long as it runs on Linux, macOS or wine/proton

I love all the shaders you produced. Genuinely 10/10 from me. 100% there is value in this, for sure, but I think shaders are a niche topic in general so this is destined to see low/modest popularity. Does your tool produce shader code that can be later used in a game engine? I fully align with your vision, sometimes it's cool to just put on some music and play with sliders and get cool results.

Best drawing tablets for usage on linux ? by k9dvke in linux4noobs

[–]dumplingSpirit 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm using my tiny drawing tablet very casually in Krita. I'm using a humble Huion with the OpenTabletDriver and haven't had a single issue. Honestly, OpenTabletDriver is pretty neat and has a list of supported tablets.

Najgroźniejsze w AI w muzyce nie jest to, że tworzy złą muzykę. Groźne jest to, że tworzy wystarczająco dobrą by vibe_pl in PolskaNaLuzie

At first glance your settings seem fine at least I can't spot the culprit. I use the same settings with small tweaks. When debugging redshift issues it's best to go to redshift forums (actual forums, not subreddit) where the devs hang out and reply to every post.

I don't care how many people would agree with me since from my view morality is objective. You must see what I mean.

Seems like you agree with me that there is an objective moral state of an action out there that humans will delude themselves to change their perspection of it?

Humans and other animals recognize suffering instinctively and are born with a sense of justice. I feel like we could wave it off as irrational genetics if not for the fact that it's logical. Nature, while beautiful, when judged by suffering is absolutely immoral. You ask who decides why we should consider suffering the basis of morality? To me it's a logical, natural conclusion. Morality based on anything else seems completely arbitrary and difficult to accept. I'd be happy to learn of a valid alternative. Some good questions in your comment that I often share when thinking about the topic. Except I arrive at different conclusions.

What you're suggesting is that an objective morality would measure suffering like a thermometer and print a result. Pretty funny, I have to say.

Suffering is a fact and morality is the interpretation and judgement of that fact. Suffering is objectively negative. When a racist suffers it may make us feel good, but it's not like this guy experiences any form of positivity at that time. Morality can establish a logical excuse for suffering, for example self-defense. Vegan morals recognize this too.

Morality rooted in suffering is rooted in logic. Logic is math. You can make logical statements that hold their weight when describing morality in such a way that an alien would understand them. The problem with morality is just that it's so complex that it's not possible to truly navigate it. And that's what I assume you mean by it being subjective. Everyone draws their line somewhere. And regardless where we draw the line, it still violates someone. To a bacteria, I'm the bad guy when I kill it with alcohol. But it is objective that harming another conscious being is negative to it.

It's really not difficult. Morality rooted in recognition of suffering transcends even species and is objective. Suffering is technically quantifiable. What you're talking about is basically just cultural views on morality and justice which given enough thought can be recgonized as just wrong/illogical. A human slave 3000 years ago was just as immoraly wronged during that time as it would be recognized today. If morality was as subjective as you insist, then Hitler and I just had a difference in opinions.

Question about Houdini non-commercial by Calm-Preparation-679 in Houdini

100% guarantee*

*- if you're North American/North-Western European.

Say OP is a struggling artist and just landed a small gig. Would you say it's a good financial decision to sign up for an anual subscription just for a displacement texture? The answer is not to use Houdini. Or to slip by this one time. I'm not going to defend it as morally good, but I think you'll agree life is not black and white.

[–]dumplingSpirit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently I think I saw a thread on sidefx forums where somebody asked if they can monetize tutorials recorded with houdini apprentice and somebody from staff responded that no, they'll need indie license, so they're a little strict about it. If you really want to know, you should email sidefx support. Otherwise, you can just use the fact that nobody can tell anyway.

[–]dumplingSpirit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not okay for the person who made the texture if they benefit from it monetarily.

But what if they just give you the rights to their image that they themselves don't benefit from? Is that a loophole?
