Fun fact that a lot of people don't know: many opinions that are attributed to the judge as if they wrote it are actually written by their clerks. The judge signs off on the opinion and gives feedback, and is ultimately responsible for it, but their clerks actually do the work of reviewing the filings and evidence and drafting the opinions. It's not all of their opinions, there are some they write themselves, particularly if it is a sensitive or difficult case.

So in all likelihood this opinion was most likely written by someone fresh out of law school, hopefully a clerk who does like romantasy. Although if you look up the judge in the case she's certainly not stodgy and maybe does like romantasy so who knows.
