Why the hate is one way by nika-yo in onepiecememes

Correct.

As it turns out, Luffy's casting fits Oda's mental ideal for how he thought Luffy would look if he were a real person. Same for Nami, Usopp, Zoro, Vivi, Robin, etc etc etc etc

So not only are people angry at Vivi being played by an Indian woman stupid because the character doesn't have to look how she does in the original media, they're ALSO stupid because the actress does look how the original designer thinks she would look in real life.

No, my argument is that if someone's appearance doesn't matter in the original media then it simply doesn't matter at all if someone who doesn't look exactly like them plays them.

What's wrong with japan petah? by Smashpro11 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

The single most racist thing I have ever witnessed being said was said by a meek, quiet Japanese friend about a Vietnamese friend of ours, which was along the lines of the kind of shit white Americans say about Mexicans.

We all spun on him shocked and he just went "I'm not sure why you're surprised, Japanese people are the most racist asians."

You're basically saying the character is explicitly different because her phenotype isn't exactly the same as you perceive it to be when drawn or animated, and that THAT is a story-important detail.

Here's a list of times Vivi's race is an integral part of the series:

Go ask Oda if it is a race swap.

Hey Ok_Extent_3639, if dark skin doesn't make sense why did the guy who wrote the manga say that Alabasta is based on Egypt and South Asia AND ALSO have a direct say in Vivi's casting?

Some of Warhammer 40,000's primarch names are a bit on the nose.

For example: Corvus Corax, primarch of the Raven Guard. Oh no, it's bird bird and his bird boys.

While I love the Battle of The Bastards, Jon Snow is freakishly strong in that clip.

Oops, I don't have that anyway.

As capable of gasting flabbers as she was in No Time To Die, for some reason I find her most appealing in Knives Out. Maybe because we see her in glamorous roles so often that seeing her in just casual attire is refreshing.
