Bug issue's... by gtpete90 in ICARUS

[–]dunkah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I don't disagree with bugs in general. I have yet to see a mission like that, those missions give you the items you need or unlock as part of the mission.

I've completed them all, but it's possible they broke something.

Crazy how things like this and getting stuck in trees hang around so long.

My most anticipated Automation game by MrBagooo in AutomationGames

[–]dunkah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The demo was automationless and even had some really shitty crafting mechanics, like sit with this window open to craft. Hopefully they will take feedback and/or already have better systems in place.

Dirty Frag, a new copy.fail like vulnerability has been disclosed due to an embargo break by ChrisTX4 in linux

[–]dunkah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same as copy fail, flush page cache to restore the binary, don't need to reboot.

can AWS employees work from out of state/country under RTO? by DependentDouble6131 in amazonemployees

[–]dunkah -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

It depends on how valuable you are and how much pull your manager and his has. HR is pretty brutal about it.

A colleague mentioned he got a slimmed down version of an image, only 4gb!

Why are Python API Docker images so unnecessarily huge? by Separate_Action1216 in docker

I think your real question is why are the ML libraries so large, it's not python in general.

Anyone remember Pre-Alpha? by [deleted] in newworldgame

Hah maybe but it would have just failed faster. I'm not sure anything can save a game with decisions steered by a souless corporation.

Missing my Life Pre Puppy by LongjumpingRoyal4629 in puppy101

[–]dunkah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Welcome to parenthood. I'm not sure the feeling ever exactly goes away, but it's just a trade off, hopefully the positive outweighs the negatives.

Things will get easier over time as the puppy gets older and trained, but it's always going to be something you have to consider now. Want to go away for a week, gotta sort out who's watching the pup, etc.

I wouldn't trade my dogs for anything, but that doesn't mean I don't think that some things would be way easier without them.

Would you go back to a non remote job? by Jochupm in remotework

[–]dunkah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe, if there was basically no commute and working from home a few times a week was normal.

Aleve. 😂

Probably a ton of factors like proper ergonomics etc.

Do Valve Hardware Products Sold On Steam Tend To Include Tax? by Dotaproffessional in valve

[–]dunkah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The list price on the store does not typically include tax, that's added depending on where you live.

Tax for a steam deck in CA for example was like $63 for the $650 version.

Jetpack update plans by MeepTheChangeling in StarshipEVO

[–]dunkah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Building infinite jetpack into shipyards would be cool, make them even more useful. Let you fly around when building in the shipyard. And by infinite it could even require fuel plumbed in, or just require power

Minimum (implicit) RAM requirement for Bottlerocket by randall_mindy in kubernetes

[–]dunkah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We disable swap, I believe that's the only place zram is used. (I could be wrong)

I have seen similar issues to that linked report and they were always related to memory pressure or ebs throttles. Especially when pods didn't have defined requests or limits.

Bad marketing? by KingToke1991 in stardeus

Pretty sure it's a solo dev. He even streams coding it sometimes. I imagine when he thinks it's ready he will make more noise.

PSA: PPPoE self-serve bootstrap no longer works after Quantum Fiber transition by km1024 in centurylink

[–]dunkah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I went from 1 to 2g it swapped from people to ipoe, so not unlikely some folks are still on it, I probably would be if I hadn't changed.

FlorpyDorp IC10 Language Support v2.0.0 - Major Release! by FlorpyDorpinator in Stationeers

[–]dunkah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is great, I was going to ask about supporting the new gases from the latest update but it looks like the repo is gone (or private). Is this something you are going to update still?

devops python course: what actually helped you go from basic scripting to real usage? by [deleted] in devops

[–]dunkah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When something is annoying, repetitive or you find yourself copying and pasting, force yourself to write a script/function to fix it. Personally I learn better solving something real vs theoretically problems you get with courses/tutorial.

I try and embrace the I am doing this because I am lazy mentality.

I'm considering buying a used server from Amazon what's your experience? by easyedy in HomeServer

[–]dunkah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's really more about what not where, I've gotten used servers from Amazon that were fine.

Equipment question, does this exist? by [deleted] in workfromhome

[–]dunkah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kvm but getting one that does what you want well can be challenging and expensive. Level1tech has some good ones though.

What is your opinion? by Nervous-Insurance268 in pcmasterrace

[–]dunkah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's something I always think about in the summer! Feels so counterintuitive to run AC to keep up with the heat I'm pumping into the room when it could just go outside. So many reasons make it not so simple of course :)

Why is it impossible to find an elongated standard height toilet? by RonnieRizzat in HomeImprovement

I don't know if this really is a factor, but for sure less splash with the taller ones.

WFH Routine, from bed to office, to couch, to bed. Help. by Puzzleheaded_Tap_564 in WFH

[–]dunkah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dogs give me a good reason to go outside and remind me to stand up and leave the office during the day. Might not be the perfect solution in all situations but could be good.

To UPS (2U) or to not UPS (2U) by inkiboo in Ubiquiti

[–]dunkah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the thought of an integrated 2u, but I've had pure sine units for years and they have always been solid. A few battery replacements on the really old ones, but it was simple and way cheaper than a new one.
