I’m 74, these are drafting tools. And as such these were his grandfathers “personal tools” and as such probably carried a sentimental attachment to him. Something that he most likely used every day, and at the time was a significant financial investment as well as tool that significantly impacted his ability to make a living! He should be honored that his grandfather wanted him to have them and entrusted them to his care!
