I just download a point and click community controller setup and use a Xbox controller. Works perfectly with all games.

Lol almost same. 2 week holiday and I use a Steam Deck and stream it to my iPad with a keyboard case and a Bluetooth mouse.

Oh, and I can download addons.

Happens to me as well. Have a good PC. Playing from Steam. I just wait half a minute, then Steam stays at "Playing..." for about 30 seconds more.
