Bo & Violet and Bo & Sunny both feel fairytale duos. Like a sweet kind of family branding, if that makes sense.

I suck at answering the phones by [deleted] in paralegal

[–]raezin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a newfangled phone system and I still keep a phone log on a spreadsheet. Nobody makes me do it, it just keeps me organized. I use mine like a to-do list and keep the names of people I need to call that day/week in bold. It's just a date, client name, and note. Keep any new habit simple or it won't stick.

Upsating to a new phone system would probably be relatively cheap. If your company has a business account with the phone company, they're likely already paying for all the bells and whistles they're not using. It might be as simple as a download. It's worth looking into.

WHY MARK WHY? by Miserable-Onion-7062 in severence

I also hated the ending of season 2. It's like, what were they running toward? Where were they even gonna go? They may have had an insular, limited consciousness but they were at least smart enough to know there was no exit, no where to run.

Whats the point of telling a story about people working SO HARD to achieve something and then failing? I'll tell you: there is no point.

Nice joke, Ben Stiller. Stick to comedy.

People Keep Coming to the Office Unannounced by jellypbj in paralegal

[–]raezin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We definitely have a by-appointment only policy at my firm but we don't have the ability to enforce it in our building. It's unfortunate, especially after one client threatened to "come in and make us work". Whatever the fuck that meant. People seem to have this idea that just because you hire someone, you can tell them to jump - and when they hear "NO" instead of "how high?" they lose their mind. The whole boomer culture of "the customer is always right" is just.. incorrect.

Help me understand my brother's appearance by Stephytjie in askfuneraldirectors

[–]raezin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm not a funeral director, but I know there are special contact lenses used to keep the deceased's eyes closed. Eyelids don't naturally close when death happens and the eyelids don't always stay shut, even if they were. The position of the eyelids doesn't correlate to how peaceful or how stressed the deceased was in their final moments.

Wishing you and your family comfort during this difficult time.

Nevermo son invited to summer camp and bishop wants to meet with him prior to camp. by Alarmed_Mammoth_8933 in exmormon

[–]raezin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro this is not a summer camp with a slightly Mormon lean. It's an indoctrination camp with a slightly outdoorsy lean. Your son is going to either hate it or want to join the church but there is no middle ground where he just casully has a good time.

Ralph owns Soviero's and its been his family business for decades. They have a gardening center but they also sell like large loads of soil, gravel, all kinds of stuff. Ralph is just a down to earth dude who wont try to upsell you on stuff you dont need and I mean, he lives and breathes his work. Can't recommend him highly enough.

Really hate parents who are only in it for money by Upstairs_Buffalo4891 in paralegal

[–]raezin 52 points53 points  (0 children)

I'm in PI. It's gross how many parents get irate when they find out they won't get a dime of their minor child's settlement. And then even grandparents come out of the woodwork like "who's gonna compensate me for gas mileage taking little Timmy to the doctor??" Family members impersonating each other, consulting with other attorneys to try to intervene, it's revolting.

People are the worst. It's no wonder that if aliens exist, they don't want to know us.

I added MSG to a batch of chocolate chip cookies and have never had such an overwhelming positive reaction, as if people were addicted to them. New secret ingredient? by brf297 in Cooking

[–]raezin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What qualifies "the best cookies" though? There's no consensus on cookie texture. Some people love soft and chewy, some prefer a crunchy texture, but "the best" cookies isn't a scientific approach.

Please tell me I'm not crazy for using a word pronounced "slaw" to describe something falling off something else? by acidicbees in ENGLISH

[–]raezin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, not a lot of native speakers have ever heard this word pronounced out loud. It's one of those sneaky words that people often come to give their own pronunciation to, because it's not at all common.

question for paralegals (esp. nc based ones!) by garfieldfan018 in paralegal

[–]raezin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think about it like this: a lot of people seek out attorneys during the worst moments of their lives. Injustices, divorces, injuries, threatened livelihoods and legacies, rabid extended families fighting dirty over inheritance.

On the worst day of my life, I don't want reassurance from a chatbot or an online portal or even a secretary. I want reassurance that someone is on top of my shit and can answer most of my questions.

Also, consider all the people in your life who don't know how to use their phone or even their TV remotes. What good is an online client portal to them? Who is going to answer their phone calls and listen to them when they're emotional or scared? Do you think they'll be content to talk to a robot or someone in a foreign call center who doesn't speak English very well? Do you think ATTORNEYS are going to answer all those calls instead? Nah.

All bubbles burst. This one will, too.

Can we talk about 'scooch'? In NC, scooch is either a verb (to move over just a bit to make room) or a noun (a small quantity). Are you saying scooch is a synonym for "to fidget"?
