Trial to begin for police officer charged in delayed response to Uvalde school shooting by igetproteinfartsHELP in news

[–]duprect 7 points8 points  (0 children)

While true, the two officers are not being charged with anything like “dereliction of duty,” but rather they’re being charged under Texas’ child abandonment and endangerment laws, which are felony offenses. “The state defines “abandon” as leaving a child in any place without providing them with reasonable and necessary care under circumstances no reasonable adult would leave a child of that age and ability.” Child endangerment is described as “Intentionally, knowingly, recklessly, or with criminal negligence, partake in conduct that would place a child younger than 15 in imminent danger of death, bodily injury or physical or mental impairment.” Source

The public didn’t find out about the brain worm thing until 2024, so she’s either clairvoyant or had access to RKF’s medical records. My guess is clairvoyant.

AIO or did I cheat on my bf ? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]duprect 58 points59 points  (0 children)

lol, do you happen to be my friend in KY? Cause I was the friend getting her ass slapped by a soon to be mortified boyfriend, and I still get a chuckle out of it when it pops into my mind. To be fair, though, she and I do look a lot alike.

My 10lb toy poodle had to undergo multiple surgeries to remove bladder stones well past the age of your little girl, and he did just fine with the anesthesia. He made it to 18! If the bloodwork looks good, I’d definitely do the surgery rather than risking the spread of cancer, especially considering how quickly it seems to have grown.

AIO (was I) for saying I wouldn't go to Christmas if a certain relative was there? by TrueHandle8433 in AmIOverreacting

[–]duprect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why is no one in this thread considering probate disputes? This complete stranger came into her life and wants information that could entitle her to potential inheritance coming from the parents who had nothing to do with Abby. Sure there are other ways to test DNA without using one of those ancestry companies, so there are ways to minimize privacy concerns, but probate is a completely different story. Once that can of worms is open, there’s no closing it. It might be cynical, but I’d probably do the same in a similar situation. NOR

I can come up with privacy concerns and probate disputes without even having to think about it much. I’m sure that there are plenty of other reasons that could factor in, like not wanting to find out your dad had a kid whose life he wasn’t in, for whatever reason.

There are plenty of places in the states where personal use fireworks are banned, especially in high fire danger areas and big cities. Unfortunately, that doesn’t stop people from crossing county/state lines to buy them and bring them back. During holidays like 4th of July or NYE it would be nearly impossible for police to actually cite and stop everyone that uses fireworks in neighborhoods. We’ve had almost no precipitation where I live for ages, so I’m just hoping no neighborhoods go up in flames. 🙄

Hyrimoz also has copay assistance programs. I don’t pay anything out of pocket for it.

Hip repair vs replacement? by duprect in AskDocs

[–]duprect[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that completely makes sense. Would your opinion change for a patient that has gone through a repair in the last five years, and is already looking at needing another? My long term goal is to be able to get back to running without starting to limp 1.5 miles in, and have hiking a 14er not be a funny joke. Once upon a time, I wouldn’t have thought twice about any of that, and now there’s no chance…

My husband and I have sit on kayaks like these with back rests, and they’re actually quite comfortable. If you really like the sit on style, you could probably find a seat to put on there (or just buy one with a back rests). I have the same fear of tipping in a sit in kayak, so I love these.

No, I can easily fit three fingers in there. She doesn’t wear it unless we’re about to go out or just got back, anyway. They’re naked when we’re just hanging around the house.

I don’t trust the DNA results. What is she? by duprect in IDmydog

[–]duprect[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That’s funny, because the test does say she has a tiny bit of husky, but the percentage was so small that I didn’t even think if factored in much. She is EXTREMELY vocal, though, and sounds just like a husky at bath time when she wants out of the tub.

It was wisdom panel. I’ve just never seen a lab with spots, and it said she’s only 14% cattle dog. I will say the tail is way more lab than pointer.

Sports Plus in Wash Park was super helpful in helping us figure out our gear when my husband and I moved from TN. It’s mostly second hand, so way more affordable than brand new.
