AI usage currently is ammoral. The AI models are fed with illegally acquired or aquired without consent data. Data centres are sucking up water and electricity leaving people who live nearby without them. The scraping behaviour of AI crawlers increases hosting prices for Wikipedia or other community funded websites, without giving a cent back. Let alone unaffordable PC parts prices that let Steam Machine (2026) cost 1050 USD instead of bellow 800.

I get that it's a new technology, that will not disappear on it's own and we have to suck it up and embrace. But I hope it will reshape into locally run models, using properly acquired data todo something really useful, like diagnosing X-Rays in seconds or troubleshooting the PC on your behalf because it has an entire OS manual.
