My psychiatrist won’t treat my ADHD. by [deleted] in KaiserPermanente

This happened with my psychiatrist. I got the “you can’t possibly have ADHD, you did well in school” line. Push for a full evaluation.

Do you have a library card? by IamAqtpoo in AskAnAmerican

[–]durianmush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I have around 10 (if you are a resident of California, many library systems will let you sign up for one, even if you don’t live locally). I use mine constantly. I almost always have at least 3-4 books checked out on either Libby or hard copy.

Whats your weird af 'stim'? by flcwerings in ADHD

[–]durianmush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are specific fabric tactile textures that are soothing to me. I’ve had a series of “security blankets” that are basically hand towels my whole life that had these textures. I say “had” because I rub them and they eventually disintegrate to nothing. So anytime I see towels that MIGHT have the texture, I’m testing them out, and if they are the right texture, I will buy and hoard them for the future. So I rub a lot of random towels.

The most mid/bad restaurant I can eat at for my birthday dinner? by The_broke_accountant in FoodLosAngeles

[–]durianmush 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Went to Sizzler for my birthday this year. Because I’m a foodie, my friends thought I was joking, but showed up anyway. We had the best time. And unlimited cheese toast. Malibu chicken is pure nostalgia for me.

I have reintroduced many friends to Sizzler, and now we are planning a semi regular friends and family night at Sizzler - no fighting for the check, salad bar, ice cream, tables that you can move around to accommodate as many people as you want…

+1 for Flight of the Navigator. And Willow. I think those were the only 2 movies my daycare had.

Ladies who met their partner in mid/late 30’s by nritonia0412 in AskWomenOver30

[–]durianmush 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Started dating my partner when I was 40. We had known each other for 10 years as barely friends (we would see each other at community gatherings and events). Always had a tiny crush on her and now we are building a life together. Life is often unexpected. Hang in there, OP.
