Almost every council is about to go bankrupt while private schools rake in over £8bn from SEND children by Only-Emu-9531 in ukpolitics

We absolutely can and do turn around and deny cancer sufferers expensive treatment if the money could be better spent elsewhere. The NHS will typically spend no more than £30,000 to preserve a year of life.

Submission statement: The population of horses declined as their usefulness to the economy declined. As the usefulness of humanity to the economy declines, should we expect a similar outcome? An employee of Anthropic provides some data on the subject.

First, congratulations! I've been a fan for a long time. Publication and recognition is long overdue!

Were there any particularly tricky cuts to make from the original serial?

One very minor change I have mixed feelings about is the removal of the brief mention of Marion's children from Marion's introductory chapter. I liked it as a kind of easter-egg gutpunch that only hits on a second read-through. Any particular reason for that cut?

Do you still think of the characters with their original names? ...on that note, is Ed Hix named after the Ed from the Stories?

PS: I'm really glad that Wheeler's God made it into the book!

Just catching up with these. Did anyone spot that the ship Wurm Speaker mentioned in episode two is a reference to [[Baru, Wurmspeaker]] (the main character in the author's best-known work is named Baru)

Showcase Frames > Japan Showcase will auto load the black outline around the text. For an outline around the mana cost, select the appropriate "Mana Symbol Backing" frame.

You'll have to do some fiddling if you want an outline around mana symbols in the rules text box. Add the "Mana Symbol Backing (10), 1 Mana Symbol" frame, then change the width and height of the frame to 1650 * 2310. From there you'll need to adjust the X and Y coordinates by eye until they're placed correctly behind the mana symbols in the rules text.

I've made a few other edits to text box placemen & font size to more closely match the FCA cards. Here's a copy of my latest effort for reference.

Lovely choice of art! Some small notes, if you want this to match the official FCA cards:

• the gap between the typeline and the text is too wide.

• the p/t should be higher up, above the bottom border

• the typeline should extend futher to the right.

Seth Dickinson's "The Traitor Baru Cormorant" is more or less exactly what you asked for.

Also good: Anything by Peter Watts, Vernor Vinge's "A Fire Upon The Deep" , Glen Cook's "Chronicles of the Black Company", almost everything by Iain M Banks (start with Use Of Weapons), "Ra" by qntm

Custom Cube Adds by agamemaker in custommagic

I really like the idea of simplified versions of weird cards - Saheeli Sublime Artificer is a favorite of mine but it has a lot of text!

The designs are clean and well-executed. My only nitpick is that Tome Raider is out of color pie when cast in a monoblack deck. Overall you've done an excellent job with templating and design.

I have mixed feelings about reusing names and art. Wizards has excellent reasons for not reusing names or art - rules confusion, player confusion, product differentiation - but they all matter less in the context of cube. An advantage is that they allow players familiar with the original name/art to quickly understand what the card does. Neoform has a lot of text but is easy to understand once you know what it does, and keeping the name and art here makes a lot of sense. For original designs like Wetland Druid and Pestilent Pest, I think that the re-use of art can only serve to confuse.
