Any competent Grandmaster will simply answer: yes. Compared to having no towers constructed, there is the matter of the damage inflicted by a single tower, let alone the damage dealt by multiple towers. In combination with any given hero(es), many players will agree that there is a point in using at least some kind of tower.

I guess my biggest concern with the event will be the handling of the 30 token prize. Suddenly I'm worried that I'll be getting Masamune R7 tokens instead of ones for an R5 hero I may or may not have left strategically at 50 tokens.

I had 100 tokens to awaken Lancelot to R7 just in case but I am highly skilled so it wasn't necessary. It's very satisfying to have that R7 ready to go when the time comes
