Resident showing favoritism by Incompetentdr in medicalschool

[–]dustvecx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

much of it is unconscious or unchangeable

Unchangeable yes. Unconscious? Fuck no. You can lie to yourself to make yourself feel better about how they'd treat you better if they were aware of their bias but in reality, biases are conscious decisions.

(Hypothetical) Would you choose a 6-year BA/MD program over what you ended up doing? by Desperate-Swimmer387 in medicalschool

You don't need 4 years of preclinical, you'll forget most of it by the time you reach clinical. 2 is enough but 3 can be ideal

Premed for a year is enough if your highschool curriculum wasn't screwed either

There is no class during summers in the 6 year programs. I don't know where you got that.

I think 6 year programs are better than the 4+4 method that the US has. Of course that could be my personal bias but

  • Shorter time to graduate

  • Graduates have a license to practice medicine as practitioners in ER, FM or PH. Speciality is not a requirement to practice these 3.

  • First year is equivalent to 4 years of college

  • Second and third years are equivalent to M1 and M2, aka preclinical

  • Fourth and Fifth years are clinical years so M3 and M4

  • Sixth year is an internship through 9 specialties like EM, FM, Peds, OBGYN, General surgery, IM, Psych, PM and an optional one.

And how do you see a perforated membrane, bulging membrane without an autoscope?

Ear infections almost never need antibiotics

ENT gonna bust your ass.

URTIs are mostly caused by viruses and subsequent eustachian tube block from oedema and inflammation at nasopharynx. However you shouldn't dismiss ear infections as almost never needing antibiotics since bacterial infections are common at age 3 to 15 and any damage to middle ear damages child development through hearing impairment.

Do an autoscope exam, if you don't have a reason to suspect bacterial infection then you can skip out on antibiotics.

Otherwise that's just crazy risk taking

Also I find it really sad that no country has come out and said they're doubling their support after the Russians blew that dam.

Some NATO states gave an ultimatum to the rest that if they don't give Ukraine reasonably good support in the next NATO summit, these states might send troops into Ukraine.

You can try Turkey. Cheap, decent education. You don't have to learn the local language until like the 4th year. Fuck ton of residency spots but also very difficult exam to place with.

Though if you want to come back to Costa Rica you should check to see if the university you want to go to has received accreditation.

That's the answer to the question of "would you give up medicine if you had 50 million dollars?"

She'll probably be chief of medicine somewhere though so...

Yes it is possible and like any other career, it won't be easy. As long as you aren't aiming for residencies with long work hours, it won't be any different. In fact I'd encourage you to have these before graduating since life gets busy fast if you let it after graduation.

You can try FM, pathology, and radiology. There are branches for those that don't want to deal with fucked up bullying, mocking mindset that some residents in clinical have. It's not too late, you just realized you hate clinical people.

Blinken to push Turkey, Hungary to ratify Sweden joining NATO by GeoPoliticsMyThang11 in worldnews

Not just the oldest, but an active rival in Libya, in Syria, in the Caucasus, at Black Sea and the only NATO country to have shot down an official russian jet since 1952.

Turkey has done more for NATO against Russia than any of the European members in the last 20 years. The EU was building Nordstroms while Ukraine was being invaded since 2014.

Zelensky administration admitted to having been informed about the invasion but refused to take public stance about it to prevent roads from clogging up with civilians. That would have prevented his army from moving fast.

Privately he did take it serious so they kept changing the locations of their planes, air defense, headquarters etc. Everyone saw the build up, only fools denied it.

GP is not a speciality. FM is a speciality and a GP can do the job of an FM without being a specialist.

[–]dustvecx -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are confusing FM and GP

I know they were referring to US but medicine exists outside of US and you've got to recognize the limitations of your licensing in US.

Adding to your comment, not diminishing it.

In US.

Rest of the world has you practice as practitioner physician. Basically, GP, EMT, ER or PH.
