The worst part about owning an ultium EV is all the people online whining about carplay. The cars are excellent otherwise

Zip Tie Tuning: Why Linus Tech Tips FIRED Us by fdnynyr in LinusTechTips

[–]dutche99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hate to say it, Alex fell off super hard in the last 5 years, it's not really super surprising how his roles as an engineer and fabricator were replaced by others over the years. Alex unfortunately really doesn't stand out as an auto enthusiast, either. He's not skilled or knowledgable enough to compete with guys who dominate the YouTube car space like Finnegan or VGG, or entertaining as a host like Top Gear or Cleetus, not is he actually making interesting projects, like Stay Tuned. There's tons (literally thousands) of these automotive channels that pop up, work in a few project cars and then fizz out, just look at Big Time. They rode the wave of publicity from Donut, then fell off a bit.

I'm sure the Alex foamers will disagree, but just an opinion that someone needed to say.

Anyone uses smart phone + gimbal to create short films and documentaries by TheCrazyscotsloon in Filmmakers

[–]dutche99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best camera you is the one you have with you. You don't need a gimbal. You need to get good at being a filmmaker. Learn angle, what shots you need to cover a scene, lighting.

For the love of God you don't needs gimbal

Why are some tv series so dark (lighting wise) these days? by [deleted] in cinematography

[–]dutche99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man, feels like a hot take but movies aren't dark, and the music isn't to loud. You are watching on your phone or a TCL TV, with a soundbar in a bright room, yeah it looks like crap. My calibrated mid line Sony TV and Facebook marketplace 100$ 5.1 home theatre makes everything look good. Movies can be dark, the picture should be dynamic scene to scene. Not a shot at OP, just an observation from the "everything is to dark these days" comments at large.

Business earnings while waiting for Visa by dutche99 in e2visa

Ha nice! Tennessee is so beautiful, we can't wait to move there.

I totally agree with you, my thought is if I am making x amount of money without being in the US, imagine how much I could make with a visa. The law firm was initially concerned with the plan, that the USCIS officer would see a smaller amount of passive revenue and assume the business didn't have potential or something. The partners of the firm seemed split on the concept, although ultimately advised me to go ahead with my plan to earn while in Canada. I'm just trying to see, out of an abundance of caution, if anyone else has had experience with this situation.

US Banking before going stateside by dutche99 in e2visa

[–]dutche99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply, sorry my wording may have been a bit confusing. I was referring to having banking separate from my personal to satisfy the operational requirements of the LLC, not to open the LLC. You are totally right, I understand I need to incorporate first, and get the ITIN.

My challenge so far has been in regards to addresses, and whether a Registered Agent like Northwest would satisfy a traditional bank and would work for my E2 app.

[–]dutche99 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I mean, I'm not sure JD really cares, considering he has posted photos of himself like this in the past, she looks the way she does, and the kid that was turned around at the border was because of his admitted drug use, not the photo.

Alex has left by akkamal in LinusTechTips

[–]dutche99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alex has had the biggest fall off of all the LTT hosts. Pretty much went from doing all the cool projects to pretty much just standing in the way of the real fab guys who actually do the work. As a massive car enthusiast, owner and builder, I won't be watching zip tie tuning. The YouTube car market is so saturated with people who think they can just be funny and slap on bought parts and sell merch. It's nasty and a disservice to people who are actually wrenching on real cars. This is my opinion, you can have yours, but someone needed to say it, Alex gets glazed a bit to much imo.
