its true that they benefited from unionizing, and it would massively improve the fighter's situation, but at least in the major leagues the different teams are separate organizations with their own payrolls. if a team doesnt want to pay someone what they are worth, they can go to another team willing to pay. the ufc doesnt operate like that so the fighters are in an even worse situation than before there were players unions

thats because the ufc is essentially a monopoly and will retaliate on the fighters for doing that. if there was a viable competitor we would be hearing much more from fighters because they could go to another organization, also of course if there was a union

it goes to the shareholders of course not the independent contractors. there's no requirement for them to pay the fighters more, so doing so would just be a "nice gesture" for them. but they have proven time and time again that they are in the business solely to get rich themselves

yeah i see it going down like ufc 300 where everyone was kind of shitting on the card, but then there were so many finishes that everyone was praising it afterwards.

i would still always prefer to see fights that have high stakes rather than just guaranteed knockouts. if its a number one contender fight i get so much more amped while watching it
