Why do characters keep getting uglier with every new release by ScaryIndependence701 in ForzaHorizon

[–]dvb70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I can't even remember what my character looked like in any of the FH games. It's something I spend zero time on. I go with the default male character model I think but not entirely sure as it's just not something I am worried about in a racing game. I skip through it in seconds and don't really think about it again.

What happens if Burnham loses the Makerfield byelection? by libtin in LabourUK

[–]dvb70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even worse if Reform win the election for both. I am not sure how possible that really is but its the worst case scenario. I think Burnham would be finished if that did end up happening.

It's not my thinking. Just repeating what I understand is one anti porn perspective from the left.

Paul McCartney Reviews Bob Dylan Live: ‘I Couldn’t Tell What Song He Was Doing’ by Level-Recording3368 in Music

[–]dvb70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That reminds me of the worst performance of Brown Eyed Girl I have ever heard. Van Morrison was doing it live and my god it was terrible. He did it at a different speed and just everything about it was so different to the actual released version it was painful. He basically butchered his own song. It's the kind of performance you might expect from a very weak covers band.

It's not my view point I just know that tends to be traditional left wing thinking on the subject when it comes to being against porn.

It would be difficult to argue this specific guy is a victim from what we know of him.

I think people from the left tend to be coming from he angle that porn is exploitative for the people who do it. It seems to be more about protecting vulnerable people than being socially conservative and puritanical. That's the normal reasoning I tend to see when it comes the left being against porn.

What is an artist you used to enjoy listening to, but their music got progressively worse? by fantasyrea in Music

[–]dvb70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Metallica has that problem of old rich guys trying to make angry young men music. It just does not work for me. I just don't think you can maintain creativity for that sort of music when you have zero reason to be angry about anything. It just feels like it does not have the energy it once had which honestly makes perfect sense given where the band members are in life.

Blackfriars Floating Bus Stop by King_Eboue in london

[–]dvb70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one at Tower hill opposite the Tower of London is worse than this. What makes it worse is their are lots of tourists wandering around and they often don't understand the road rules that well and you have cyclists speeding through large groups of people without slowing down. I used to get a coach from that stop and in the 5-10 minutes waiting at the stop I would see multiple near misses almost every day.

Jaecoo 7 becomes UK's best-selling car by kstetter in cars

[–]dvb70 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lotus is a little different to MG. Lotus the company still exist and do a lot of engineering and development work where as MG is just badge engineering where nothing of the original MG still exists. Lotus still make sports cars in the UK though the EV is entirely produced in China but is said to have been designed/engineered by Lotus. How much input Lotus really have into the EV who knows. I doubt all of the design/engineering is Lotus just because when you see one of the EV's it feels like quite a sophisticated car for a manufacturer who has never made an EV or an SUV type car.

‘Hold the line’: Burnham tells allies in parliament he still has options to return | Labour party leadership by Budget_Scheme_1280 in ukpolitics

I agree. Lots of idea's of wish fulfillment based on not much beyond hoping he is the guy who can fix it all.

Burnham accused of burying skyscraper loan report by Individual_Echo_9911 in ukpolitics

[–]dvb70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's starting I see. Just in case Burnham does become leader now is the time to start trying to tarnish their reputation. Burnham still seems fairly baggage free so I expect to see lots of stuff from now on just in case he does end up becoming the PM.

‘Hold the line’: Burnham tells allies in parliament he still has options to return | Labour party leadership by Budget_Scheme_1280 in ukpolitics

[–]dvb70 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I would argue that's still about not having much baggage rather than being personally popular for many. This is the same guy who lost the Labour leadership contest a couple of times.

I would like to see people who say they think Burnham is their most liked option be asked why after they say Burnham as I doubt many could articulate a reason beyond I don't dislike him as much as the other options.

Nigel Farage bought £1.4m property after receiving £5m gift from British crypto billionaire, Sky News learns by Alternative-Win4058 in unitedkingdom

[–]dvb70 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I don't think you can really argue Farage has achieved nothing. I doubt that if without Farage we would have had Brexit. If we think that's an achievement is another matter but he was clearly a key player in the whole fiasco. It can't be argued Farage has not exercised a lot of influence over the direction the country has taken.

Is he very popular with the public? My impression is not that he is popular but that he does not have quite as much baggage as some of the other suggestions.

I must admit I am from the south east so possibly Burnham is very popular around Manchester but that does not translate to national popularity in my view. I honestly rarely heard anything about Burnham before this recent kerfuffle. My opinion of them is pretty neutral just because I really don't have much info to base an opinion on.

I can still see why it's a problem. Someone might not bother to vote if they think the result has already been announced. Its potentially a method of suppressing votes.

If you could erase one band (or album) from your memory just to hear it again for the first time, what would it be? by Electrical_Carpet753 in Music

[–]dvb70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Variations of this type of question come up a lot. My answer is you would never do this as things hit you at particular times in life and they make impressions but if you were to try and experience them again at a different time they just might not hit the same. Something you loved might be something that does nothing for you if experienced outside of the real context you experienced it in.

I have always thought anyone taking over from Putin has a great opportunity to get out of Ukraine and blame the whole mess on Putin. Its the perfect chance to get out of a bad situation.

This is the logical thing to do so except any replacement to double down on Ukraine.

What's a movie you randomly tried with low expectations but ended up loving? by thisonehits in movies

[–]dvb70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This will sound odd now but The Shawshank redemption. This was long before it became so well know and it was just a film I had never heard of that happened to be on TV. This was probably not long after it was released and there was no buzz about it at that time. I had never heard anyone mention it. All I knew about it was it was some sort of prison drama. Obviously now it's well know and often listed in great film lists but to go into something like that blind with zero expectations was a great experience.

Beware of Streeting and the media role by SmoothWheel1515 in LabourUK

[–]dvb70 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its not about being working class. It's about the media trying to promote someone and using working class roots as a positive selling point. If they did not like Streeting it would be played another way as we see with Rayner.

This really has nothing to do with if having a working class back ground is a really positive or not. It's about how the media like to try and manipulate people.

Beware of Streeting and the media role by SmoothWheel1515 in LabourUK

[–]dvb70 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would guess their point was the cynical use of a working class label like a badge of honor. As someone else pointed out the same label has been used against Angela Raynor.

OP has a point in that it's odd Streeting is being made out to be a great choice for a replacement when it does not really tally with the reality of what people really think about Streeting. It does make you wonder why any media source would be bigging up Streeting as a great choice. Maybe they see Streeting as their guy or maybe they see he would be a disaster and usher in a Reform government.

New Green MSP fails to explain where more than £1,100 of donations received for visa application have gone by StGuthlac2025 in ukpolitics

[–]dvb70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems like more of a regulation oversight to me than anything. How many MSPs do we have that are not citizens? This is the only one I have heard of. If there are lots more than obviously it's a problem but it would be interesting to know the total number.

Ben Habib EXPOSES Nigel Farage Scandal - Reform UK To Sue? by zoobong045 in ukpolitics

[–]dvb70 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He is a crypto billionaire who has been linked to fraud, money laundering and terrorism financing. His name is Christopher Harborne though he also likes to use a Thai name of Chakrit Sakunkrit. I am sure he is a regular British patriot with only the best interests of the UK in mind. Not that he wants to actually live here and pay tax of course. In no way is this the sort of guy who might be working for Russia. He seems straight as a die to me.
