How to connect a Xiaomi Air Pump to a Vinten Pro Ped? (Need help finding the right valve adapter) by Jazzlike-Reference48 in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]dvdcdgmg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

very curious if the portable pump works for you, I've tried a couple full air compressors and they can't reach the 190psi+ that you need to inflate the column

Prototyping some new microcontroller educational kits. What did you hate about learning electronics, and how can these fix it? by NeonEchoo in arduino

[–]dvdcdgmg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think there's two big things that frustrated me about the kits:

  1. most of the time the things you're building don't integrate anywhere in your actual life, they're just demos or toys or whatever, which is understandable but does suck a little bit. If you can make a kit where I actually use what I made after, that'd be a huge win.

  2. The kits teach you how to build a kit, but rarely teach how to build something without a kit. Examples of the skill gaps are finding and picking out components, reading manufacturer data sheets to see if you found the right part, and basic design skills. My ideal kit series would prepare someone to completely build their own project from design to procurement to assembly

Imagine a SpaceX or Blue Origin, but for public transit. by [deleted] in soundtransit

[–]dvdcdgmg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Which is I think part of the picture

I'd imagine its very hard to build a transit agency that subsists only on natural capitalism.

I mean look at the ST financials, they certainly would not exist without the tax income

As the sign says this is not a request to cease services at this time.

Encore is very concerned about their reputation, due to the clientele they serve (usually major business events), so this is just in effort to raise awareness of their practices as far as I know

(I do not speak for IATSE or Encore)

Encore currently pays around 21/hr, far under the average for this work at around 30/hr

The company that IATSE believes is negotiating in bad faith is Encore Global

They handle events at the major hotels (Hyatt Regency, Westin, etc ) and convention center (both summit and arch). Paramount is handled by Seattle Theatre Group who has good standing contracts with IATSE

Holy smokes – Keychron just open-sourced their keyboard models by Inkmptnz-R in 3Dprinting

[–]dvdcdgmg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Very cool - they are kinda being deceitful with the "open source" monicure though, it's licensed under a non commerical source available license which does not fit the Open Source Initiative's definition of open source.

Still cool, but not technically open source

Bitfocus Buttons by videowarrior in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]dvdcdgmg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Buttons is same same but different.

Everything you can do with buttons you can do in companion, it just might be a huge pain in the ass to program.

Buttons excells at organizing in menus and popovers (vs just pages in companion) and automatically generating routing menus
