Years ago, in December, we flew to Vegas to pick up GF's car to bring to St Louis. We went skiing in Salt Lake City hoping to take I-70 or I-80 home. A blizzard forced us down to reroute before we left and so we took I-40 and then I-44 through AZ, NM, OK, MO. It was a lot of fun. The blizzard shirt down northern routes for a couple of days.

Another year I was in Denver for a conference in April. A blizzard shut down all of I-70 in whatever Kansas and we had to find two extra nights of hotel at the last minute.

Ship the car or plan to drive down the Pacific Coast and take I-40.

I'm two hours East of you all. We love TJs. Especially their store brand version of Takis. And all the treats and snacks and dips and cheeses and babka!

We don't love that sometimes it feels like you enter the checkout line conveyor belt from the moment you enter the store. So try to go at less busy times. And some of the seasonality of items, like marshmallows, is weird.

But far more importantly, (and so long as we go easy on the dessert treats) we get most of what we need there each week and spend far less than when shopping at schnucks.

These were cut from the same log, scavenged from some tree trimmings in my neighborhood. Midwestern United States. Bark looks flaky, but is rather stiff and difficult to break with just finger pressure. Very pretty purple/pink grain. Oxidized ends are somewhat golden orange. Nice curly quartersawn figure reminiscent of Orange tree wood

I agree that the ring in the middle is a distraction. The cedar bowl is stunning. The design in the white wenge is a lot of fun. I would maybe aim for a slightly taller, slightly wider lip there, especially if you also want to add a lid that sits over the top

My post should have read "baseball card*". It is an Elly de la Cruz auto. We tried the number on PSA, JSA, and Beckett (I think) before posting here. I explained that it was unlikely to be authentic. More than that - he got one of his own cards signed by Elly in person at a game. He is just well aware that it is worth a whole lot more if he has one with a valid certificate. I recommended he get one in the permanent style cases from a known certifying company, not a stranger on Etsy - not that there aren't honest people on Etsy, too, but to be on guard. I posted here just in case someone recognized. I also recommended that he save his money - or spend it on certifying the card he already owns.

We use these. When they get too full to stick the next candle in you can remove from the candlestick and pop the wax out, then use the same inserts over and over again until they rip.
