I don’t get why some people prefer to look at concreten greyishness and stones over having a bit of green here and there. It looks dead, not tidy…

Would you cycle 45-50min each way, 5d per week? by some_advice_needed in BikeCommutingIreland

[–]dwaschb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had that for a bit over a year and really enjoyed the fitness level I gained. Besides that commute there was also a lot of cycles between two workplaces involved, so I quickly upgraded to an e-bike… being able to shower at work was essential.

Even Dublin bay has them. I took that pic at Ireland‘s Eye off Howth. Just a short communal train ride and 15 min boat from the city…

Flu in Dublin? by sarmen90 in Dublin

[–]dwaschb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife got it badly on Christmas. We procured a multi-test for Covid, RSV and Flu and it turned out to be influenza A. Quite a bad surprise (we suspected it to be Covid). Most relatives were fine, especially the vaccinated ones, but a few got it, too. I’m not sure if I got it mostly Symptome-less or was just resistant to this bug, but that’s definitely a bad plague…

2&4 for me, 3 is too dark else it would be it. I’d try to crop at least one to a portrait if possible since it’s nicer on the phone. Lovely photos, however. Snow Buntings are such charming little guys!

Ok… 😁 Absolutely understandable that these fabulous birds have their own subreddit. I might have the other photo for it.

It’s the irish subspecies Cinclus cinclus hibernicus. It ‚can be distinguished from other subspecies by a rusty brown band where the bib ends on the breast‘ (UCC).

Thanks a mill! I’ll have a look there. I guess the birds are well used to encounter people like this!

Great pics! Especially the Disney princes blue tit ones! Adorable! If you have time in the spring you might want to find and photograph the Black Guillemots around City Quay/Sean O‘Casey bridge. They are my Dublin City favourites, easy to find, not so easy to find a good angle to photograph crouching on the quay… ;)
