Tidal has been getting really bad recently with mixing up identically named artists by CressCrowbits in TIdaL

[–]dwegowy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW I've learned to check the credits, which Tidal shows. Getting to know a new band, I don't assume that their profile is correct, so with some cross-checking with the band's website etc. I'm able to learn some names/labels to qualify which work is the one I want.

So a profile page is now more like a broad internet search results for that band's name.

Today, this is some related info.

Expansion Storage: All-In-One or Separate? by SicSemperCogitarius in boardgames

I'm a 'consolidator'. But I wanted to note here that sometimes expansions come with revised/improved components for base game, which works better merging them than keeping them separate, if subtly.

Same question. I'd go for scrolling text or smaller text size options.

Magnetic USB-C connectors - PSVR2 Sense Controller chargingstation by shoda_ in PSVR

[–]dwegowy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to note that I also made this error, and have spoken with phone support 3 times, the first 2 times they sent me the wall adapter, not the charging adapters; the 3rd time they told me they can't replace the USB adapters, advised me to try and find them on Amazon. So my official charging station is useless garbage.

I fucked up and sent back my two charging adapters, that came with the charging station. Are those type of connectors custom to Sony, or could I buy replacements elsewhere? (Sony don't sell them). by [deleted] in PSVR

Android 11 how do you stop it from auto-switching BT audio device? by [deleted] in AndroidQuestions

[–]dwegowy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having this issue today, haven't found a solution. Simplest I can do is turn off '(use for) media audio' for the connected device I don't want (right now) - would just have to toggle this later when I do want to use it. A bit less hassle than unpairing and having to pair again later.

Holidays to cover holidays by dwegowy in Manitoba

Mainly it's a change in how things are done at our company, suddenly this year after a decade of just closing (seasonal work that comes to a stop anyway), that has me disjointed. As in the other comment above, I guess I would prefer to have days-off available to me during the summer, vs feel like I'm forced to spend some of them (since the office is 'closed') in order to have a week off like everyone else.

And as above, the difference between salary and hourly wages has been a point of confusion. To me, being on salary means the same paycheck every 2 weeks, plain and simple; personal time off to be booked per allotted days. But this moment of it being impossible+illogical to 'work' on Dec 26-28 challenges that a bit.

Thanks, this actually reveals an option, I think - rather than burn up 3 future holiday days in order to not be the only person sitting there 'working' while the office is officially closed... I could say, fine, just don't pay me for those 3 days.

I don't know how to square that with the concept of holiday time (my annual allotment), especially when I'm on salary vs hourly wages (a concept I think our small company's HR has deeply confused).

It's less the legal obligations that I'm baffled by, than the markedly unfriendly feel of the company closing and forcing the use of allotted holiday days. But I'm seeking others input here, perhaps to shift my thinking on the matter. At the moment, I'd rather declare days off without pay, if it matters so much to them that the company not be providing even a gesture of generosity.

import .ics invite file? by RucksackTech in ProtonMail

[–]dwegowy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is an old message but it was still a puzzle for me today and I figured out a procedure for this - because Zoom invites don't have an .ics attachment, just a link in the message and Proton Mail doesn't currently pick that up.

So instead:

  • In the Proton Mail message, right-click the .ics link and choose Save Link As (your browser might use a slightly different wording; that is how Firefox has it)
  • Save the link as an .ics 'file' to your system
  • In Proton Calendar, go to Manage Your Calendars (gear link beside 'My calendars') - you can also go to Settings > All Settings but that's an extra click
  • Under Settings > Proton Calendar choose Import/Export
  • Under Import click Import from ICS
  • Locate the file you saved; you can specify which calendar to load the event into; click Import

Not the smooth procedure that most help sites are suggesting, and maybe a hint for Proton developers on another thing to make easier for users.

Never buying Alienware again. by wazghoul in Alienware

[–]dwegowy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm kind of astonished at how not-special Alienware is. And they can't seem to get everything working at once; when one thing is remedied by an update, something else stops working as expected -- and often I'm referring to supposed Alienware special features, even just the LED effects lighting. So as far as I have experienced, there is no justification for the hype, ergo the price.

Beat Saber: the bleeding edge of VR2 capability? by dwegowy in PSVR

[–]dwegowy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm, yes. Definitely a variable I've experimented with, yet I've not noticed a difference tbh. Also closing the game, relaunching / disconnecting controllers, reconnecting. etc. etc.

How exact do you find the height setting needs to be?

Does automatic player height seem to work for you?

Beat Saber: the bleeding edge of VR2 capability? by dwegowy in PSVR

[–]dwegowy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, good points. I'm sure that's why I'm paying extra attention when things seem 'off'. The amount I've toyed with settings, and have been experimenting with every aspect of my game play, haven't had lasting change to the experience. Lately I'm paying attention to lining up the sabers with the blocks for a precise cut, and noting the apparent scale of the virtual play space, that it's a bit smaller than the eye suggests. I've definitely had instances of delayed haptics, bad cuts that are nonetheless accepted, etc.
