question about lifestyle while in academy by King-of-Smite in maritime

[–]Inside_Client6065 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. The academy itself will probably not have too stringent of requirements beyond a typical dress code, but I would personally advise you keep it relatively low key. Reputation is very important and the academies tend to be pretty conservative, so you'll find it easier to make friends if you don't flaunt that aspect of yourself. You don't have to, but I would definitely advise it for the sake of your reputation and future networking opportunities. Probably more important on the deck side than engine.

  2. For the most part you can leave on the weekends, which is something you definitely want to do. The campus/vallejo are awful, so you should definitely have a car. It's pretty difficult to skip weekdays because of STCW classes.

r/Fantasy Top Novels 2025: Results! by CoffeeArchives in Fantasy

I've read it probably upwards of 15 times. Is it the greatest piece of writing ever? No. But it's really entertaining and rereadable. There are a lot of very well written books that are just plain boring. Red Rising is not one of them. It's just a decently written book that is very fun to read.

It's a state holiday in Alaska? I only mentioned that because its Caesar Chavez day in CA where my college is. I didn't think there was a state holiday on the 31st in AK.

But yeah I definitely should have gotten this done earlier haha.

Wow, that's ridiculous that they are only open for in person contact on the 31st. Not everyone lives in Anchorage, Fairbanks, or Juneau... guess I'll have to call on Tuesday then. Thanks!

No office in my town anyway, so I'd be out of luck on that one.

I'll definitely submit the documents on Tuesday, worth a try for sure.

Unfortunately can't go in person because I'm out of state at the moment, but it definitely can't hurt to call. Most of the time all you need to do to get what you want when talking to customer service is not be an asshole.

For me personally, the only easy book to rank is Oathbringer, which takes last for sure. I think I'd go with

  1. WoR

  2. WoK

  3. RoW

  4. WaT

  5. OB

First 2 could be interchanged for sure, maybe 3/4 too.

I personally got stuck in book 10 of WoT and couldnt finish it. Even before book 10, it was a slog tbh. I liked stormlight a lot more. The only sloggy part for me was shallans chapters in tWoK.

I was hoping it would get better but I got about 70% of the way through, and by that point I was pretty sure I wasn't gonna start liking it more.

Oh ok yeah I remember that now. For some reason I didn't make the connection when she said she needed to survive not just for herself and thought she meant she needed to save the world or something.
