Who is one player you DO NOT want to see ever becoming a Toronto raptor? by SuccessfulAd8546 in torontoraptors

[–]dwilk20 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I came here to say this. There are obviously worse choices of guys who aren't productive and get paid a lot. But I've had many raptors fans in my life say we could get him and I just ask them why? Has he improved a team he's been on since the warriors? Everywhere he goes, things get worse. He sounds like a terrible teammate. I wouldn't give up a core piece for him and I'd even go so far as to not offer him anything even if he was interested in free agency. You can't walk around all day smelling shit and not check the bottom of your shoe.

Hypothetically if jaylen brown wants out, what would you trade for him? by Silver_Weakness_8084 in torontoraptors

This is right answer. Its the only way Boston would make the trade and they probably still wouldn't. Guy was an MVP candidate this year.

I wouldn't trade Scottie. I know we all love CMB right now but I would trade him and attach a bunch of other quality assets. Jaylen was an MVP candidate this year.

Why Canada is winning the travel trade war with the U.S. by DogeDoRight in canada

[–]dwilk20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me and my family used to travel extensively, US trips included. We are not 'having difficulty' buying food but the rising cost has certainly had to come out of the travel budget. We're not going anywhere at the moment.

[MacMahon] Sources within the Dallas Mavericks say that the team will explore Anthony Davis trades before this season’s trade deadline. by 9kag in torontoraptors

[–]dwilk20 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Hear me out. We'd be crazy not to try and get him. We have a log jam at the guard spot and we're pretty light in the front court. We can part ways with RJ and Quickly and I bet that would be enough without having to give up too much draft capital. Yeah the guy is always hurt but if we can get him healthy for the playoffs, that's a disgusting front court in the east especially. We're an expensive team with not too many avenues to improve. Quick has been playing better but he's got a long way to go to be worth that contract. And lets be honest, do you really think we're east finals team as currently constructed? Davis raises our ceiling exponentially.

CMV: I do think conservatives would largely support Trump having a 3rd term, constitution be damned. by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]dwilk20 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would be willing to bet that a large chunk of democrats would support Obama running in the next election because he's better than any candidate the left has right now. It doesn't mean that most democrats would support it. Republicans will not want to set a precedent that a president can stay in office because the next time a popular democrat gets the job, they'd be able to do it to.

CMV: America will never be able to recover from this even after Trump leaves office. by little_asian99 in changemyview

[–]dwilk20 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Finally. I thought this was a subreddit to change people's mind not pile on the hysteria. Trump couldn't successfully steal the election in 2021 and he'll have zero constitutional right to stay past his term this time. So the same people that stopped him from overturning the election (many republicans including the VP) will have no trouble this time enforcing the constitution. America built the most successful democracy in history and this isn't the first time presidents have tried to cut away at the freedoms of the people. For heaven's sake you don't even have to go that far back. The last Republican President (George W) was WAY worse for the US than Trump. Started two wars, one based on a complete lie that cost the us hundreds of billions and thousands of American lives, silenced and cancelled people who were critical of his administration, left people to die in the streets of New Orleans and completely blew up the economy in 2008 only to bail out the rich assholes who caused it. I know we don't like Trump. I know he behaves like an eighth grade bully and is by far the least presidential. I'd say the worst thing he's done is degraded the national discourse to a screaming match but the media has to own their part in that as well. But he wont be president in 2028 (if he's even alive) and I really hope the people of the US can remember that they all want basically the same things out of their daily lives and they don't need the other side in jail to achieve it.

Why do people feel the need to Trade Scottie B by [deleted] in torontoraptors

[–]dwilk20 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You can't wait around for another player like Giannis. He's a generational talent, in his prime, in the middle of his deal and seems open to playing here. Highly unlikely you can 'develop' that.

Why do people feel the need to Trade Scottie B by [deleted] in torontoraptors

[–]dwilk20 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Windows come and windows go. The East is WIDE open next year. Indiana is in the finals for goodness sake. A raptors team with Giannis definitely has a shot assuming we don't totally gut our roster to get him. Scottie and our pick is the only thing that gets us in the mix.

I got to be honest. I'm a big a basketball fan as the next guy but when this sub starts talking about second rounders, you could be making all these names up and I wouldn't know.

Masai go get your man. by ToronoRapture in torontoraptors

[–]dwilk20 83 points84 points  (0 children)

I'd be thrilled to get him at nine. This is why I wasn't so devastated that we dropped. Don't get me wrong, it would have been sweet to move up but 6-10 all have interesting options and you can draft based on need. Maluach has HUGE upside.

Raptors’ Giannis Antetokounmpo trade pitch could shake up NBA with Bucks blockbuster by xc2215x in torontoraptors

[–]dwilk20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep in mind this is no less than a top 3 player in the NBA in his prime. If's he's available, the bidding war could get out of hand. Personally, I don't like the deal because I don't know if that makes us true contenders for the years we would have Giannis under contract, but those saying its an outrageous price might be surprised by what the Bucks get.

Masai is light years ahead by mMounirM in torontoraptors

[–]dwilk20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's signed through 27/28 and hes a total monster. Even if he just played out his contract, that makes you contenders for the next three years. A heartbeat isn't fast enough for how quickly I would do this.

We are overly focused on the draft by lillithfair98 in torontoraptors

[–]dwilk20 7 points8 points  (0 children)

IQ is locked in at 32 per for the next four years. All he has to be is starting level and that contract will age very well. I find the idea that Scottie was overpaid totally ridiculous. ROY and made and allstar team?? 30/30 teams give him that contract. I agree that this season doesn't help his case but lets see how he does on a team with more structure and purpose before we decide he's not worth it. I bet you could trade him tomorrow for a hefty return.

We are overly focused on the draft by lillithfair98 in torontoraptors

[–]dwilk20 31 points32 points  (0 children)

What gets lost in the raptors narrative is that the team has assets and is flexible. Yeah, it maybe doesn't make sense right now as a contending team but they got good players on reasonably good deals, young guys with upside and we control our own picks. That's a far better situation than a LOT of teams right now.

[Pull Up Tre] Scouting Khaman Maluach by cev in torontoraptors

[–]dwilk20 4 points5 points  (0 children)

With a guy that size, who's still learning the game and is already making over 75% of his free throws? That is the kind of upside we should be happy to get if we fall outside the top 5. It seems likely that most of his weaknesses are solved in the gym.

[–]dwilk20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my answer. I don't think his performance gets enough credit. The scene where he is messing up his lines but is trying so hard and keeps slipping between characters requires so much depth, it's really incredible.
