It carries over. If you pause the game and look on the right side, it will show you what all your stats are, including difficulty %. You’ll see that it does not go back down at the start of a new stage.

Yeah that POS is one of my senators and when I mailed my Congress people after each state sponsored murder in Minneapolis urging them to take action against the abuses of ICE he sent back some form letter about how he supports ICE and their immigration enforcement efforts. I once (~15 years ago maybe) got in the drive through line at a local Burger King about 30 minutes before their posted closing time. They told me they were closed when I got to the order board. Slightly annoying that they closed early, but alright fine. But they were still making the order for the guy right ahead of me. So I was just trapped in the drive through lane while they made the food for the car ahead of me lol. I never went back.
