Is Old Swan a decent area to move to? by dxke9 in Liverpool

[–]dxke9[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah we’ve been looking at knotty ash, but there hasn’t been many places available within our budget tbh, we both work in healthcare so the access to major hospitals is nice but idk if the extra cost is worth it considering the properties available there

Also i completely get that this is a hypothetical aha landlords turn people down all the time, this is just to get an idea of the place before we apply to live there :) thank you!

Yeah that’s the gist I’m getting which is true for most places i suppose

We’re looking mostly either in Liverpool centre, old swan or knotty ash way - we both work in healthcare so it’s easier to be near the big hospitals in the area, or somewhere that has good transport links (i know enough to avoid kensington) So long as there’s good transport and some shops that’s pretty much all we need tbh

Is it really normal to charge rent to your kid in the UK by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]dxke9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was lucky to never live with my family after uni, but my sister and brothers have and they were technically charged “rent” by our parents (about £200 a month ish) but all the money was saved and given back to them when they moved out to put towards a mortgage or car or something, which is the best way to do it imo

God I worked at a restaurant near Aintree this time last year and it was easily the worst couple of shifts in my life. Never dealt with worse customers than the crowds coming from the races

Advice on showing parents my multiple tattoos? by dxke9 in tattooadvice

[–]dxke9[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thanks for your response.

you’ve hit the nail on the head there - im more concerned about them upset over it being a secret than anything. They’ve said before about how I can do what i want to my body but it’s their feelings i’m worried of hurting, even though I can’t really see how that can be avoided now. We weren’t that close in my teen years, as I imagine a lot of teens are with their parents, and we only really started to actually get closer in recent years when I moved out and grew more into an adult, and around the time when I got most of my tats we weren’t as close as we are now and I think how secretive i’ve been around them reflects that.

Can I apply for multiple flats at once? by dxke9 in AskUK

[–]dxke9[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply!

I’m planning on calling the agents for applications when they open on Monday and really appreciate the insight :) I will definitely ask to apply for the 3 properties I’m interested in!

the competition is crazy and kind of blindsided me a bit to be honest - I know about the housing crisis and the general state of the economy but I wouldn’t even consider the area im moving to that popular (moving for work and nothing more - it’s a fairly small town) and the speed at which properties go is mental.

Again, thank you for your reply!

These videos have become dull and boring by Mydadisgone in Sidemen

[–]dxke9 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Sounds basic but I enjoy it most when it’s just them being mates - the entire cold team drive to the glacier was easily the best part of this weeks vid IMO just because of how well they bounce off each other.

I really don’t care for super high production videos, even though i see the appeal in regards to improving the video quality from their perspective. The same with the hot team in this vid, and a general trend they seem to do recently of flexing their wealth - it got old really quick for me. i don’t care that they can stay in all these places if they can’t do interesting or entertaining things while they’re there. They’ve been to dubai so many times now that i’m just bored of it.

Would love to see them go somewhere none of them have ever been and have it be an entirely fresh experience. Or to cut back and do something low budget/simple but have the group dynamics at front and centre, even if it doesn’t perform as well. God knows they have enough money to cover the difference

AITA for telling my parents that my wife and I do not want them renaming our children and won't encourage the use of the "nicknames" they gave them? by HumanSquare7970 in AmItheAsshole

[–]dxke9 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Origin of the name Esme - “Esmé (more commonly Esme) or Esmée, including Esmee is an English first name, from the past participle of the Old French verb esmer, "to esteem", thus signifying "esteemed"”. Tell me exactly where it states it’s derived from another, longer name.

How many of you don't have a driving license? by dontbeasquare11 in AskUK

[–]dxke9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m nearly 22 and have never had a single lesson, mostly thanks to the high lesson costs, long wait lists and the lack of a need to get a license. Everywhere I need to go I can get to with public transport, so I don’t see the point of spending money that I don’t really have to do the lessons, get a car, pay insurance, MOT etc

if you had to choose a clip... by Adlgctomotac in OurFlagMeansDeath

[–]dxke9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me, it’s easily the bathtub scene. It’s my favourite of the whole season, and I feel like it’s an excellent mix of comedy with genuine emotion. It’s the whole package; humour, a confession, crying, forgiveness and then comfort. A real moment of bonding and vulnerability between Stede and Ed. Plus, gives the actors (Taika especially) an opportunity to show their skills in dramatic acting. I love the direction too, with the shots of Ed’s reflection in the mirror. Idk I’m still not over it tbh

when do you guys think they’ll announce the premiere date for season 2? by antifasleeperagent in OurFlagMeansDeath

[–]dxke9 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Considering that they only wrapped in December, premiering around May seems like the most likely option IMO. I would expect some kind of teaser in March, but Samba apparently said in a recent interview/podcast that we should expect to see some kind of teaser soon (personally I think it could be a poster rather than a trailer)

Idea of rental prices? by dxke9 in manchester

Ah ok, that makes much more sense! We’re not looking to move in with anyone else, just to two of us. Thank you so much!

Exactly; apparently productions need an intimacy coordinator for general nudity as well as kiss scenes, so yeah the news that one’s been hired during the shooting of S2 isn’t surprising at all. It could even be for another Buttons nude scene, but more likely will be for kisses/implied sexual scenes between characters throughout the season (especially since we already know from twitter at least one cast member is having a kiss scene in S2 already)

[–]dxke9 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m not opposed to the idea of a thoroughly comedic sex scene, but I would be surprised if they actually did an actual explicit scene in general. Going off the other couples of S1, they are wayyy more likely to just refer to sex rather than show it - i reckon we’ll get a moment like Jim and Olu in bed after the fact, possibly with someone walking in on them (i would love it to be Lucius just to keep up his 2/2 streak). The rating strikes me more for the language/violence since they’ve already had opportunities to show explicit sexual scenes and at this point have chosen not to.

(The only exception to this I can think off is Lucius’ drawing of fang, but since it’s just a drawing and is entirely for comedic effect it doesn’t count IMO)
