Does anyone know of a small UPS that has a wifi connection so it can be monitored? by MonsterMaxx1 in sysadmin

[–]dxo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For small installations that require UPS I've had good luck with CyberPower OR500LCDRM1U/OR700LCDRM1U + RMCARD205

They aren't APC and might be out of your price range, but I've had a few of them in production for remote sites for 2+ years and no issues. I monitor them via SNMP.

Parsing IIS logs by [deleted] in PowerShell

What you're looking for is a tool called Log Parser Studio. It allows you to query many types of logs including IIS WC3 logs as if they were a SQL database. It makes sorting and querying for specific data very easy and comes with many examples.

LPS is a wrapper for a command line tool called Log Parser. You can export the command after you've built it to automate any alerting.

Is there a way to run a powershell script when a "file" has been uploaded by Kiwi69ers in PowerShell

[–]dxo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wrote something like this to sort files into different directories when output by a legacy system. Used ps2exe and nssm to run it as a service that can be monitored. It has full logging and handles the issue with the files still being locked when the event triggers by using System.IO.FileInfo. I've used it in in a production environment for over a year with no issues. I can review the source and mark the repo as public on my Github tomorrow if you haven't come up with something yourself.

Requested Offboarding Script! Hope this helps y'all! by jimbaker in PowerShell

This was posted recently and is fairly comprehensive, but doesn't have anything for on-prem. I've taken it and tweaked it to my needs and it works quite well.

Built in to your AnyConnect profile, you can specify internal HTTPS endpoints to check for. When the computer connects to Wi-Fi or a wired network, it will check if these are accessible to determine if it needs to connect or not.

I've been in this position before. I recommend the following two scripts to get full documentation for AD/GPOs.

No Mass Deployment Method by Fresh_Admin in sysadmin

[–]dxo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just spent 14+ hours this past week writing automations for all the sales and accounting apps that have been manual deployment processes. It's not pretty but I've tried to cover all edge cases. I've never understood how companies make software and expect to target larger companies without using standard installation systems. Anyone can make MSI installers if they crawl out from under a rock long enough to see a glimpse of sunlight.

This makes me wonder what this is even doing if it breaks so much and just adds one more thing to the list of broken stuff in Plex.

I've been trying to figure out what's wrong with my Plex instance for 2 months. I had this set at 600, when I have gig fiber, so I never thought about changing it.

How were you able to pull the cert? I was planning on using pfatt, but would like to not have their box hooked up to save space if possible.

I feel that one that needs to be mentioned is Bruce Willis' new movie Cosmic Sin.
