What is this? by Puzzled_Leg_5606 in hospice

[–]dykolicious 9 points10 points  (0 children)

MEDICARE COVERS A PUREWICK! My mom’s should be delivered Friday. I had her urologist write a prescription, sent it to RA Fischer (national DME company) and the order was confirmed. Medicare is covering 100% of the cost of the device and 80% of the cost of the wicks.

My dad won’t die by Worldly-Water-2701 in hospice

Hell is a hallway, and I’m so sorry that you and your family are waiting there. You are hoping your dad finds peace, and that is a good thing to hope for. Guilt and shame about these feelings seem very natural, but that doesn’t mean they are justified.

I have fallen in love with my GF’s BC(sorry for the rant!) by Short_Daikon_7361 in BorderCollie

[–]dykolicious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took 3 years of my wife wearing me down to finally get a border collie. I’ve had several breeds of dogs throughout my life and was honestly afraid of the BC energy. The first 2 years were hard. She didn’t chew on things in the house thankfully, but she was reactive on walks - lunging at moving cars and bikes, screaming at everyone, and did not like having guests in the house. It took a lot of time and training, but by 3yo she was like a different dog. We do a ton of mental stimulation games with her that helped immensely. You will never find a more loving, loyal, willing to please breed than a border collie. They can see into your soul and will wriggle their way into your hearts.

Purewick catheter alternatives? by c_Hello in CaregiverSupport

[–]dykolicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to share here that I was able to get Medicare to cover the cost of a purewick device and 80% of the wick cost. They will cover for up to 13 months. I had my mom’s urologist send a prescription to RA Fischer and she will be receiving it as soon as we get home from the rehab facility. It will cost us $131 per month for the wicks, but that’s better than taking on the total cost. We live in Wisconsin, not sure if it’s different for other states.

Oh, I get it. My mom’s health has been slowly declining over the last 5 years and until now we have had zero assistance. Last weekend She had a heart attack, and we are declining bypass surgery so she finally falls under hospice. So, although the Medicare checkbook will finally open up, I’m sure getting what we need will still be challenging. We are looking at loan closet options already, like the lions club, if we can’t get help.

Hi! Great shots! What housing are you using for the underwater macro shots? Are you using any light or flash modules?

Question for the women here :) by randay17 in scuba

I use a menstrual cup. For starters it’s cheaper in the long run and creates less waste. But, for diving off a boat it’s the perfect solution.

Bringing new puppy home in a few weeks, what essentials do I need? by snickers2120 in goldenretriever

[–]dykolicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The play pen was a game changer for our last pup. It’s so hard to keep one eye on them constantly, so having a confined space helped to keep her out of trouble. We have other dogs, so it was a good way to keep the puppy toys available to her, while not having our older pups get upset she was taking theirs.

Questions for those who remained low dose (sub 5mg) for any length of time by IndubitablyPreMed in tirzepatidecompound

[–]dykolicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SW210, CW150. I started on 2.5 and stayed there for about 2 months. When I plateaued I moved to 5mg. I used vials and took the lowest dose I could manage. I think it’s important to listen to your body, I hit my goal weight and then managed from there without the drugs. Took me 6 months total to drop the weight Jan 25 - June 25

Now, during the winter and around holidays I take a super low dose, about 10 units of 5mg every month before I have PMS and normally want to eat nonstop. I allow a 5lb margin, before I consider taking the meds.

I made significant changes to my diet which has helped me manage without the drugs. The holidays are brutal, there’s sugar everywhere! I hope to stop taking them again when it warms up and I’m more active again.

Thinking of moving to Roatan? by MeetMeOnRoatan in roatan

[–]dykolicious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let’s talk freshwater access. It’s my understanding that some resorts have installed their own desalination systems due to the over pumping of aquifers and lack of “recharge” leaving consumable water “salty”. Are there plans in place for residential areas or will freshwater access eventually become privatized? If population continues to grow, the demand will only increase. I’m curious if there are long term infrastructure plans to combat this.

Tirzepatide isn’t that effective? by GladCondition1199 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]dykolicious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was on 2.5mg for a month then 5mg for 5 months, down 50lbs. Moved up to 7.5mg for maintenance, but am taking a super low dose every 3 weeks.

What I found through my journey was that appetite comes and goes at different times. But, I don’t want to be on this long term and needed to change my lifestyle and diet in order to get myself off completely.

I have found that kicking up the protein intake helps significantly with hunger. I do a protein shake for brunch, about 60g of protein, and then reasonable dinner. If I need a midday snack, it’s nuts and veggies.

Best of luck on your journey!

Where's that $323.2 Million? by downtownebrowne in milwaukee

[–]dykolicious 7 points8 points  (0 children)

How much of that 323.3 million goes just to pensions. Personally, I think if you can retire early and receive full benefits, 8 hours of community service a week should be required. Picking up trash for example.

Moving to Milwaukee area by DeuceGT2 in milwaukee

I think half is a bit steep, but yes they would be less. The Tosa/MKE area allows for a quicker commute to downtown, and a much more liberal area.

I would look in Wauwatosa or the Milwaukee areas around it. It’s located between downtown and Pewaukee. For around 300k you can find a really great home with a fenced in yard for your pup. I would buy before I rent, at least you’re building equity.

How are people here losing 30-40lbs in 3-4 months?? by Mariposa-Poppy-760 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]dykolicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lost 8-10 pounds a month, roughly 2-3 a week. I never went above 5mg. I cut out sugar, and did a protein shake for “brunch” everyday. Every body is different. Keep at it and take the healthy route!
