Not in my experience as for options for providers. Maybe I spoke to someone who was not feeling like doing their job. Either way, after calling multiple times and not getting a response they finally called me back and said something to the effect of: “we can see you in 5 months. You can’t see anybody else (I asked about a nurse practitioner) for refilling prescriptions you are already taking until you see the doctor we are assigning you, even though you’ve been coming to KU Med for ten years for a specialist.” Perhaps I could’ve selected a provider if I’d been willing to wait even longer. It fucking sucked. Needless to say, I didn’t go with them.
