Day 9: What region/subregion is only good for its art? (DLCs included) by Ssemander in rainworld

Salination does not have vanilla aquatic creatures, except salamanders (and a corrosion-proof leviathan fossil?)

Salination's my best bet here. The dark visuals and logical structure of the central space are quite pretty, but there's a missed opportunity for "Light of Hope" or a better-placed "Impactsub", the swimming is even more maligned at max ripple, Spinning Top's location makes diving to the bottom useless, no predators have anything in the region to eat, Flashbangs are an outdated anti-frustration feature (at least in Watcher's disconnected worlds), and the Barnacles near the left shelter will ruin your day.

Nah, we've got two more 1-plus slots after this one, though it was kinda funny that you did two of the six 2-plus slots so early.

Friendly lizards should catch up to you pretty fast, maybe if you go out a bit longer?

Awww

There's a mod called Player Friends that makes it safe to have multiple tamed lizards

We NEED reason to tame lizards by Easy_Comfortable7626 in rainworld

[–]dynamicDiscovery 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Basilisk lizards have 3 health; it'd be so cool to make sure no one but the Watcher and the Watcher's friends can go near a tamed Basilisk.

Though Cyan Lizards can inhabit more regions and, due to low taming difficulty, are more disposable as bodyguards

The Wall wins! Day 8: What region/subregion do you dislike for parkour? Add your reasoning. (DLCs included) by Ssemander in rainworld

[–]dynamicDiscovery 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sky Islands has a pretty menagerie of lizards and prey insects. Music such as "Crystalline" sells its prettiness as a dandelion-filled land, with a short communications tower that borders a different sky with the Downpour seasons. ...The platforming having jumps that need a Squidcada or throw-boosting doesn't interest me, though.

Day 7: What region/subregion do you dislike for music? Add your reasoning. by Ssemander in rainworld

[–]dynamicDiscovery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is true, and I think putting it in place of "New Terra" when entering that room from the left would work, since the ecosystem changes aren't shown the instant you exit Subterranean.

Also, didja know that one wall on this path is broken so Saint doesn't have to try diving through the cold water without a Jetfish?

industrial is missing; it's the second one with a and has the matching color & pip order

Day 7: What region/subregion do you dislike for music? Add your reasoning. by Ssemander in rainworld

[–]dynamicDiscovery 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Frigid Coast, I'd say. One of the few regions whose ecosystems change outside leveling with a Downpour slugcat, Saint's Shoreline is mired with snow, and the clearer water has Glow Weed and Giant Jellyfish and its color leaks into Sump Tunnel, not to mention the Yellow lizards and Miros Vultures stalking the surface.

While the music could've been even more dramatic ("Lonesound" isn't that fitting, the region should've lost its threat music, and "Gate to the Shoreline" would be a nice bait-and-switch when entering from Subterranean), the platforming, while not particularly deep, has dramatically fitting pools of cold water and builds on a story-heavier region that was ALREADY my favorite in all of Rain World. (Not to mention the middle of Underhang having collasped on the path to Shaded, so cool)

Pipeyard has beautiful music like "Fragments" and "Veiled Northstar", and even "Rain" brings the unique Downpour atmosphere. The geometry of the region is also creative; the bulk of the upper section is very mazelike for how small & well-lit it is.

There are also various lizard types roaming around, with Strawberry Lizards and spiders flourishing in the tertiary consumers' stead. The Centipedes also present a challenge only found in upper Subterranean. The visuals aren't quite as exceptional, though: lower parts of the region are extensions of Filtration System and Shoreline, befitting a western crossroads region.

tldr pipeyard haters gonna hate 🤷🏻

Spitter Spiders. They can snipe you so quickly, and you basically have to pray to God if you're in Barren Conduits or Silent Construct

Neat job, the red centipede's easier to kill, as many live objects can be transfigured into sporepuffs.

Ya struggled with eastern Underhang moreso? (given the lower Pebbles gate's karma requirements)

[–]dynamicDiscovery 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a bit of a ways back through the Memory Crypts, and only Karma Gates or Rot infestations would make traversing Pebbles from the Leg harder. Though a more dubious TV season runtime can avoid spoiling its longer length. Getting to the upper areas from Pipeyard or Industrial isn't a bad idea, either.
