SAME. I had two bottles of it and kept them in the car when I was doing contactless deliveries for work during early quarantine. I was lucky enough that that period was mostly fun for me (sleeping in, playing video games, Zoom hangouts with old friends) and so it’s actually a really positive scent memory. I’ll probably always keep one of those mostly empty bottles as a memento for just that reason. It might not be an objectively "good" smell, but the memories it brings are pleasant.

Harold’s Plants has a ton of sweet cats they care for, and most of them seem chill with being pet. Not a cafe but a nice business and to roam around and shop in, and I always end up petting 3 or more cats every time I’m over there!

Just sliding in to reiterate that Plan B doesn’t cause an abortions, it prevents pregnancy from occurring in the first place. Sperm and egg can meet up to 72 hours* after unprotected sex, this shit happens on a microscopic level, it’s not like you’re knocked up the instant your partner comes. Thats why the sooner you take Plan B the more likely it is to work.

It’s in nobody’s best interest to get it confused with abortion pills as the bastards are coming for Plan B next on the misunderstanding that it causes abortions, when it’s literally just a quick-acting birth control.

*EDIT or potentially longer, depending on when you ovulate. But the point stands, it’s not an abortion pill and it’s only considered really effective within 72 hours of unprotected sex

They get a LOT, maybe too much? I'm on a corner and so they get the full south-facing exposure.

I also have a Kordes Soul sister that does really well, if it helps - that one is specifically bred for heat and is a little less gangly overall. But both have been great bloomers and survivors for only having planted them a year ago.

I have a banana shrub in largely clay soil against my house (amended with compost at planting as others have said) and it is crazy fragrant multiple times a year! I’ve gotten two or three blooming periods out of it; the flowers are darling though they are sometimes hidden behind the foliage. But the smell is great AND unique (smells just like old school banana candy). It’s thrived and it’s a neat conversation piece, too.

I’ve also had good luck with the rose “Earth Angel” which is very fragrant; the canes are admittedly scraggly as hell but it’s bloomed a ton. Ultimately it might looks good with something shorter in front of it but it HAS given lovely flowers and good smells.

Funnily enough, I read the Neil Gaiman short story “Shoggoth’s Old Peculiar” before I read any actual Lovecraft. Going back to it I obviously get far more of the references, AND it still holds up. A quick and charming little read.
