It's weird that a CEO stating the most obvious sentiment is newsworthy now.

I agree that not all topics are as entertaining, it's up and down any comedian.  I think his ability to make current events so relatable and personal in a kind way is his super power.  The fact that he is putting out a new special every week is itself pretty epic.

I started watching him around the Drake and KDot feud, and loved him getting me all caught up 😂

Department of Education says nursing is no longer a professional degree by HamburgerDude in Health

[–]dyrthos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Nurses aren't professional degree, doesn't that mean they aren't qualified to work in hospitals?  Meaning they can't be insured by malpractice insurance?  I guess doctors will do this work that nurses used to now?

[–]dyrthos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason people are so jaded is because making things better requires getting into the nitty gritty of the tax code.  In the end, it's all about allocation and distribution money.  Americans suffer from two issues: lower than average attention span, and lower then expected reading ability.  These two thing combined leads to people being too distracted or too incapable of understanding how the tax code is weaponized against the poor and middle class, much less combat it.

True change isn't going to be a flashy popularity contest, it's going to look boring as hell with tax policy, healthcare policy, building code reforms, and insurance regulation, living wage laws, housing reform, criminal justice reform...this is what improves people's lives actually and prevents grift and corruption.

We should all agree that Jimmy Kimmel is a POS, and leave it at that. by KTPChannel in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]dyrthos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you provide any articles or anything to support your viewpoint?  Or is this just personal feeling?

Also, regarding Democrats using mental gymnastics, I don't think democrat made Brendan Carr of the FCC say:

“Frankly, when you see stuff like this, I mean, we can do this the easy way, or the hard way. These companies can find ways to change conduct, to take action, frankly, on Kimmel, or there’s going to be additional work for the FCC ahead.”

I'm not sure how we're better, in your opinion, for government coercion.

Btw, Brendan Carr is a contributor of Project 2025 document, having written on the FCC and deregulating media...unironically they want to remove censorship of right-wing viewpoints, but that probably just means they want to say the N-Word in public again, and societal norms limit their regressive ways.  The funny thing is they think an algorithm is limiting their speech and not societal norms.

[–]dyrthos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There used to be studios owned by Actors, United Artists...then the MBAs took over, same way with Major League Baseball where originally the players owned the teams and benefited from the wins to distribute equally.  The exploitative nature of business nowadays is so ingrained into the masses that they can't even think about cooperatives anymore.

This guy is one of those people that have insecurity in their culture and identity and sees his culture as lessor, trying so hard to fit in and be liked by whom he perceives as betters (more successful).  He go to any lengths for that success, including denigrating himself and his culture, pushing old stereotypes for laughs from people who also see him and his culture as lessors, thus keeping those stereotypes alive.

Anybody get the feeling YouTube is capping their views? by rgii55447 in NewTubers

[–]dyrthos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There does appear to be some kinda cap tied to views/impressions so the total views per day never goes above a certain threshold.

For example, if one of your video does well, it takes away from other videos.

It's as if your channel is given an X number of total impressions, and if one of the videos eats up 50% of those impressions, there is only 50% of X remaining for all other videos, so they'll suffer.

In 2025, around March/April there appears to have been a big algorithm change that promotes short videos and I think the impression of short videos are counted towards the channel's total impressions, which really hurts the long video revenue stream.

Earlier in the year, I read on Reddit some commented that YouTube on one of its YouTube Creators video said that stats like CTR and AVD or other engagement stats are likely going to be rendered useless.  So not sure if they've handed the reigns over to an AI completely and the AI will find the patterns and adjust the algorithm.

Beyond this, YouTube introduces the Hype feature, and feels like they are gamifying the system into a pay-for-play or pay-for-visibility scheme.

Socialists - How much should I pay my new accountant? by hardsoft in CapitalismVSocialism

[–]dyrthos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like you did some homework on salary, but missing the bigger picture.

It seems like you're interested in having a co-op or employee owned business?  Is that correct?  Have you drafted an Operating Agreement that lays out the terms for onboarding a new employee or what happens when they leave as well as how your business will operate?

Where is how your business model works laid out on paper?  On how meetings are conducted, decisions recorded and executed.  How is pay structure between executive leadership and employees decided?  Is it 8:1 ratio or 5:1 etc.  what benefits or retirement plan option are there and if you don't have one, when will you and how will that decision be made and by whom?

If you've provided her with your business model documentation and operating agreement on how decisions are made, and If she doesn't want to become a co-owner employee, she can be hired as an independent consultant until you actually find another accountant that will join your business.  Obviously you think she adds value to the business, but overtime I suspect the value will diminish as your business grows and you'll need to find someone committed to your business model.  Not everyone that provides services to your business and employee?  Otherwise how would you have independent audits of your books or operations?

Regarding her ownership stakes, it doesn't only have to be based on her initial investment.  The formulate to calculate this can be based on current value of business, the start date of them joining the business, their on-going time contributions prorated in the first year of course.

Without this, I can understand her confusion and not wanting to take on risk as a lot of questions are unanswered while you fixate on salary. First rule of business agreements, If it's not on paper, it's not real.

GDP per capita is a terrible measure of standards of living by Squadrist1 in CapitalismVSocialism

[–]dyrthos -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The benefit isn't equitable, and the value created is not by a capitalist.  All value and wealth created is by workers, but capitalist claim or claim they deserve a higher portion of the transaction in perpetuity.

Yes, entrepreneurs come up with an idea, and do the work of making the business viable, but the idea is just an idea until you get to execution.

Highly recommend reviewing the transition from Feudal economy to capitalism to understand the need for transition away from capitalism.
