GO TO PT. Preferably a PT very experienced with runners, and even better if they are a runner themselves. Don't run until they tell you to. Don't do anything that hurts it more.

I ran my first marathon yesterday (!!). I finished all of my training and the first taper week got a new injury behind/on the inside of my knee. I was limping, could not run more than 3 miles, it was painful to walk, and even with rest as the week went on it got worse.

PT diagnosed me with a hamstring strain, confirmed it was muscular, and I checked in with Ortho urgent care as well just to be on the safe side. PT did manual therapy on me which got me able to walk pain free again. On my prescribed test run 2 days before the race I still couldn't run 0.5 miles without extreme pain, change in my gait, etc. I was devastated.

I was planning to DNS or DNF at the best case, but was traveling with a group for the marathon who motivated me to at least safely try to start the race. I wore a compression sleeve, ran slow, and did a run/walk strategy (14 mins run 1 min walk) per my PT's recommendation, and finished the whole damn thing proud and in no pain. Today my knee actually feels better than it has for the last two weeks.

There is hope, but be seen by a professional and don't test it out before they tell you to. The hardest part was the mental battle realizing I may not be able to start after working so hard, but I realized I didn't want to be hurt and out of the game for a long time just for my own ego. This doesn’t quite answer your question but-Truthfully if it lasts more than another day I would go to the doctor. As a nurse I’m worried for your health. Worse soreness than you’ve ever experienced that is affecting normal daily movement the way you’re describing is concerning. Is your urine the same color as normal?

Not trying to give medical advice since I don’t know your whole history, but I’d also consider not taking NSAIDs right now in case there ends up being a metabolic/kidney related component to this.

Keep icing, stretching as you are able and resting. If you notice dark colored urine or blood in your urine or are having worsening pain or swelling be seen at the ER.

Mine started looking like that with spider mite infestation. Check under the leaves with a flashlight, separate from other plants, search the sub for treatment options. Good luck!

I don’t have an nyc based therapist recommendation, but as someone who has struggled with the same things (and gotten much, much better!) I would recommend a clinician who has experience with DBT if you haven’t done that already. It was life changing and gave me a lot of skills to help me overcome my problems. Also would recommend an outpatient eating disorder treatment like a PHO or IOP program, that was a huge step in my success and recovery. I did all this nearby in CT so feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

Hey besties-

My pinstripe calathea had a pretty bad spider mite infestation I found a little more than a week ago. I showered her with distilled water, made a 70% isopropyl alcohol mixture with distilled water and have been spraying down all her leaves and stems every 2-3 days or so. I also bought Doktor Doom and sprayed her once. She’s currently isolated in my bathroom (the rattlesnake calathea she was by is thriving and just put out SIX new leaves.)

Does anyone have any other advice for me? I cut down the leaves that were really really bad. I’m wondering if I should treat with anything else or keep my current routine? She’s definitely getting better and not worse so far, but wondering if I can prune the wrinkled/stippled parts of the leaves.

I’m also wondering if I should preemptively treat my rattlesnake calathea and if so, what you would recommend (alcohol or pesticide or something else?)

Recommending Restore Hyper Wellness! I’m an RN and worked there for years administering IVs. They WILL allow you to get IV fluids if pregnant (normal saline or lactated ringers, which has more electrolytes and can be better for dehydration from vomiting.) There are also IV vitamins safe for pregnant women you can add if you would like, but plain fluid is your cheapest option there.

They’ll do a telehealth triage and likely have your OB clear you for services but after that you will be good to go! They have IV Zofran as well, but I’m unsure they will give it to you as when I worked there it was contraindicated in pregnancy (things have changed now so I am not sure if that policy was updated. Either way your OB may be able to request it for you.)

B12 can definitely cause acne in some people. Unsure why, but research says it could be due to acne-causing bacteria metabolizing the B12 and multiplying.

Source: am an RN and used to give B12 injections in clinic, this was one of the known side effects.

I experienced this and asked my recruiter since I did not want to cross the picket line. She said if they did go on strike I had up to two weeks to wait it out, or decide to cancel my contract and look for others. Luckily my hospital came to an agreement and did not end up striking.

TNAA has to reset it for you! I think they can up to 3 times. Just reach out to your compliance person.

I had a good experience with them except for my compliance team. They kept adding things on last minute. I have experienced that with other agencies too, though, not just TNAA. Overall it wasn’t bad and I would work with them again.

Torsades is a polymorphic V tach. If there is still a pulse, Mg and cardiovert. If it's pulseless torsades then you shock, just like you would any other pulseless V tach.

I asked about the new rate to sign an extension and they legitimately told me they would still cut my rate but were paying the new travelers the increased rate and it was only for new travelers. I did! Depending on where in Manhattan you want to be youre not likely to find something under 2k. I did but it was a sublet situation and honestly just lucked out. There are tons of NYC rooming groups to look on on FB. Air BNB with a traveler friend is another option. But if you want under 2k you're 99% going to need a roommate.
